Steam issues

Thats right, im having issues with steam- nothing new it seems, but anyway, to the point.

I recently reinstalled hl2 and steam, and waited for a couple of hours for my dial up to download the 25mb needed to get the game going. However, i cant play in offline mode- it says not 'ready to be played in offline mode' and tries to get me to download deathmatch, WHICH I DONT WANT! I have ticked the 'save information' box so that aint the problem. Anyone know? I can't download deathmatch cos it would be useless to me and i only get 20 hours a month of internet cos im incredibly cheap.

The tick box on the account page of steam settings says:

Don't save account information on this computer (Recommended for public computers. Note that this will disable 'Offline Mode'.)

Check that that isn't ticked.

Here's a small screen-shot (26kb) with my settings that work offline. Make sure yours are set something like this and it should work.

I have ticked the 'save information' box so that aint the problem.

That's probably the "not save" box. Uncheck it.
