Hey all -

My brother just submitted a drumming video for a Rock Band contest. He just turned 13 today and this is his first video on YouTube of his drumming. He's a talented kid, I thought the community here might be interested in checking out his video. Cheers, and thanks for looking!

That sounded really good, actually; apart from the occasional out-of-beat sound.

i dont know much about drumming but that wasnt half bad.
offtopic : you should ask a mod before posting stuff like this . although it looks fine to me.

Pretty ****ing awesome. His speed changed like crazy throughout, and he did get off-beat a few times, but he's definitely talented.

That was really good. I wish I could finger beat that out on my desk with any sort of clarity.

He needs new drums..

He's got a long way to come, but for his age he was decent. He loses time a fair bit which is the worst thing a drummer can do (they're meant to keep the rest of the band in time) and his beats are pretty basic, with no real self styling in them. At the moment he just sounds like a generic (albeit, fairly decent) drummer.

Although all of those points I just raised should improve with time.

Kesters right, but hes thirtheen and thats above average. <3 bass

Alot better than I can do, how long's he been drumming?

He's potential is insane.
Grab that kid a metronome so he can keep perfect time, and he'll be on his way to some ****ing insane beats.

Yeah, he really needs to get a metronome. He has feel at times, but his tempo is so terrible that he's worthless as it is. Get him to play some single strokes to a click for an hour every day and then see how he does.

Paradiddles are great too.
Or say, go "1 2 3 4, 1 + 2 + 3 + 4, 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a" and repeat that on the snare drum while hitting every quarter note on bass, and open + close highhat on every 2 beats.
It'll help a lot with time.

He needs to work on his ability to hold a beat, big time.

And his fills sucked absolute balls too. Largely a case of him trying to punch out something overly complicated and show-off-ish.

What was nice though, was his syncopation. Some of those beats were incredibly funky.
