Since I know how you at the politics thread love to pick apart arguments, I give this to you.
Please do show what you think other than the obvious (Bush being a dumbass).
Want to forward a "fixed" version back.

Please note that Texas is the only state with a legal right to secede from the Union . (Reference the Texas-American Annexation Treaty of 1848.)

We Texans love y'all, but we'll probably have to take action since B. Hussein Obama won the election. We'll miss you too. Here is what can happen:

#1: Barack Hussein Obama becomes President of the United States ; Texas will immediately secede from the Union .

#2: George W. Bush will become the President of the Republic of Texas .

So what does Texas have to do to survive as a Republic?

1. NASA is just south of Houston , Texas . We will control the space industry.

2. We refine over 85% of the gasoline in the United States .

3. Defense Industry--we have over 65% of it. The term "Don't mess with Texas ," will take on a whole new meaning.

4. Oil - we can supply all the oil that the Republic of Texas will need for the next 300 years. Yankee states? Sorry about that.

5. Natural Gas - again we have all we need and it's too bad about those Northern States. John Kerry will have to figure out a way to keep them warm....

6. Computer Industry - we currently lead the nation in producing computer chips and communications--small companies like Texas Instruments, Dell Computer, EDS, Raytheon, National Semiconductor, Motorola, Intel, AMD, Atmel, Applied Materials, Ball Miconductor, Dallas Semiconductor, Delphi, Nortel, Alcatel, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

7. Medical Care - We have the largest research centers for cancer research, the best burn centers and the top trauma units in the world, as well as other large health centers. Dallas has some of the best hospitals in the United States .

8. We have enough colleges to keep us going: University of Texas , Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Rice, SMU, University of Houston , Baylor, UNT ( University of North Texas ), Texas Women's University, etc. Ivy grows better in the South anyway.

9. We have a ready supply of workers. We could just open the border when we need some more.

10. We have essential control of the paper industry, plastics, insurance, etc.

11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. We don't have an Army, but since everybody down here has at least six rifles and a pile of ammo, we can raise an Army in 24 hours if we need one. If the situation really gets bad, we can always call the Department of Public Safety and ask them to send over Chuck Norris and a couple of Texas Rangers.

12. We are totally self-sufficient in beef, poultry, hogs, and several types of grain, fruit and vegetables, and let's not forget seafood from the Gulf. Also, everybody down here knows how to cook them so that they taste good. Don't need any food.

This just names a few of the items that will keep the Republic of Texas in good shape. There isn't a thing out there that we need and don't have.

Now to the rest of the United States under President Obama:

Since you won't have the refineries to get gas for your cars, only President Obama will be able to drive around in his big 9 mpg SUV.

The rest of the United States will have to walk or ride bikes.

You won't have any TV as the Space Center in Houston will cut off satellite communications.

You won't have any natural gas to heat your homes, but since Mr. Obama has predicted global warming, you will not need the gas as long as you survive the 2000 years it will take to get enough heat from Global Warming.

Signed, The People of Texas

P.S. This is not a threatening letter - just a note to give you something to think about!

SLEEP WELL TONIGHT THE EYES OF TEXAS ARE UPON YOU!!

Full of figures, but I'm pretty sure 'Texas' doesn't own those things even if they are in the state, or is the intention to nationalise them like Castro did the US businesses in Cuba?

And are they planning to become an Autarky or something? It's what some of the points read like... but I really doubt they could actually manage it.

And there was I thinking only steers and queers come from Texas :p

Motorola is based in Illinois. Intel, Applied Materials, Atmel and AMD are based in California...
Yes, I work in semiconductor industry.

Screw you, rednecks.

It's not the companies so much as the people. You think we'll let them leave?

I remember them reading this to us in Texas history class in the 8th grade. (minus the obama stuff)

1. NASA is just south of Houston , Texas . We will control the space industry.

NASA has one important facility (mission control) and one tourist/museum facility in Texas. NASA's HQ is in Washington DC, their launch facility and main landing facility are in Florida, and they have various contruction, test, and research facilities in several other states. Texas would have exactly 0 control over the space industry, all NASA would have to do is "relocate" mission control, they probably have (temporary) backups just in case something happens to the Texas facility.

Texas will never secede from the United States of America. Barring the huge economic deficiencies that tag along with the whole idea, the United States will never allow Texas to secede for a thousand and one reasons. Non-Texans will never vote for it, it'll have zero support in Congress, and no Texan senator or governor will ever put that in motion no matter how many people in Texas thinks its a good idea. It will weaken US industry, display chaos within American soil (looked at badly by foreign allies and enemies alike), and divide the nation.

Also, Texas has no reason to secede. Really no reason at all.

Dallas County went blue for Obama, bitches!

I'm really happy about that.

Besides, if I'm not mistaken, nearly 40% or so Texans voted for Obama. This isn't a full Anti-Obama/democrat state. So that's pretty awesome.

Texas still sucks though.

Secession will never happen. If it did, Texas would turn into an immediate third world country as all the intelligent people emigrated to the United States and all the idiots who are gay for Texas are left.

So basically the Texans would steal all that shit from the United States? Hah, good luck with that war against the other 49 states.

Yeah... and the other 49 states house most of the US Military Bases.

11. In case of a foreign invasion, we have the Texas National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard. Iraq had one of the largest standing militaries in the world, and their republican guard were highly trained.

Some defense they pulled off. The only hope Texans would have is to morph into their most hated foes... Muslim Extremists engaging in guerrilla warfare.

There wouldnt even be any traditional warfare. We know the location of all their bases and key areas, we could bomb them within 30 minutes and it would all be over. It would be even more pathetic than when the earth fell to the combine in hl2.

stuff

Or we could just, y'know, invade you in a matter of days (if not hours) and forcefully reappropriate your wayward asses.

Given the likely scale of your operation, it could make a nice footnote in the history books.

Why would you not let them secede, one less red state means permanent democrat rule.

Well now all you've done is make Texas look like a bunch of rebellious punks. Go ahead try and recede, it'll fail so fast your heads will spin.

how it will fail

first:
when the coutnry declare its independence it will go in a war whit a country in the middle east like iran and is not probable it would hold it

second:
it will deplete all its oil in 5 years due to high consmue and things like a excess of nascar races and tons of fuel devourer suvs

third:
computer industry and science will vain cuz the principal thing teached in school will be creationism and religious stuff and how to assemble a m16
the major root of economy will be weapon macnufacturing and beef and trucking

fourht:
imigrants would take your eceonomy literally cuz you will hire them and they will spend the money in theyr countryes cuz you wouldnt allow them a citizenship and even a long stay, they will be guarded all time till entrance to leaving, making your country very dependent of them but not producing enough to pay them all

though a thing that may help you all will be

allowing narcotrafic, will be a big source of income by using the country as "gate" for the traffic to the usa

so those are my 2 cents

the funny part isnt so much that texans think they have a chance against the military with their hunting rifles and handgun collections. no, the funny is the fact that they think succession is the proper response to an obama win ..cuz a black man lieberal could never out cluster**** bush or mccain for that matter. I mean really, is the alternative better than obama? you really want to follow 8 years of what is considered by many as the worst american presidency since the beginning with even more stupid? really the rest of america doesnt need more stupid ..nuke them from orbit or just spike the water with something deadly (at least the infrastructure will remain intact) ..they're not worth fighting over ..the land yes but the people ...not so much

it's funny cuz republicans who are all up in arms about obama's election are bending over backwards to prove just how stupid they are ..they're like overachievers of stupid

Isn't sedition a hanging offence? Certainly one way to thin the redneck numbers

I wouldn't mind Texas succeeding from the United States.

The Republicans would NEVER win an election again! BUAHHAHAH

Cease what, correct usage of the English language?

Yes! There is no place here for correct language usage. Or informed debate, frank and honest exchange of opinions, logic or facts!

Oh wow, and this is all responses to some shitty chain e-mail.
Thanks guys, I pretty much agree with everything you say as far as it being a bad idea.
I seriously can't help but laugh at some of these replies. You guys made my day.

You probably posted this in the wrong section. :p

And to all the negative replies: Ya'll just jealous.

No that is false.
We gave that up after the Civil War. We can ASK congress if can succede (like thats going to happen) and if they say yes, we can. If we get taken back into the US though, we will be broken into several smaller states.

Mexico has lots of Natural resources, and a large labor force. Look at how well they are doing compared to the US and Canada.

As a Texan, I am happy with being part of the US. There are problems, there are *sigh* Yankee's. But hopefully we can show them the way.
