TF2 Fails to launch

I am attempting to run TF2 on my new computer running Windows 7, which I only received recently (it had to be shipped back to the company for repairs.). It has more than enough power to run the program, so I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue.

Basically, I try to launch TF2, and the little steam launching 'window' pops up, stays for a few seconds, then disappears. My Steam status says I'm playing TF2 for a few seconds, and then reverts to normal as well. I have also tried running it under -autoconfig. Any thoughts/solutions?

Also: All other steam games, including Valve games, still work for me.

Try verifying your cache.

I have verified, defragged, and re-downloaded, and still nothing.

Go to your start menu, right click 'Computer' click properties. Click 'advanced system settings' on the left. Under performance, click settings. Now click the Data Execution Protection tab.

Choose the second option (DEP for all except the ones I select)

Add Steam.exe and hl2.exe to list. Press OK.

Try TF2 now?

I'm getting a compatibility mode pop up. Do I ignore it, or follow it's instructions to change?

I checked the properties of Steam.exe, and it's not in compatibility mode...

Well, I pressed cancel, and I can still boot up all my other games, but still no luck with TF2.

Force windowed mode.

Or custom resolution.

Tried it, still no luck.

It goes down to sync every time as well.

Problem solved. AVG was blocking the program.
