Hmm well yeah that picture of them does look similar, but you could say those robots look a lot like Stormtroopers too. :P

I dont think shepard was meant to kill nihalinth, simply because marc laidlaw is just gearbox's creation and doesnt actually fit into the plot.

Oh god that’s good stuff.

Seriously.

Who the hell cares?

Something in Toy Story probably inspired them as well.

On topic… yeah they share similarities. They share similarities with storm troopers too. My friends and I nicked named them “White Blood Cells” when we encountered them in the citadel.

If the Combine has access to infinite technology, what are their protect materials going to be like? Is it going to be like other games out there where the just have metal breastplates and shoulder pads? Is that high-tech? It seems to me that is more like a low-tech approach to body armor. For the body, notice they don’t have shoulder pads, which is something that everybody seem to love to put on soldiers in video games. I don’t know why. I don’t know if they thinking that soldiers will be tackling people. I always try to look at the conventions out there and figure if there is a reason for them, or if it is just unnecessary baggage. In designing the costume I wanted something that made sense and that could actually be plausible years down the road.

I hope so.. that's a good movie.

I just noticed that the little flying robot (the one that Ford wires up to be eternally happy, I forgot what he's called, it's in book 4 I think) sounds very much like a scanner :)

[Only scanners, unlike Fords bot, wouldn't be delighted to be kicked against the wall]

I think they look pretty original to me, you cant create something thats going to be instantly original, not nowadays anyway.

Whatever you do, no matter how hard you try theres always goign to
be soemthign that looks similar too what you have created...its the same witht he combine elites...but i mean seriously, just because he is clad in white and is from sci fi doesnt insantly mean its a rip off or anything.

it might even be a reference to the book. Does anyone know if the number 42 is said a lot in HL2? I can't remember. Maybe on a wall?
