The screens provided are very low res - it's clearer when you load the model yourself and spin it around. It's models\props_combine\breenglobe.mdl. As you can see, the West coast of America is no more. It has been expanded about 1/4 of the way around the globe to support some sort of titanic rectangular object or area taking up a good portion of the Earth's surface! It has markings around the inner edge and a line running North-South down the middle. The edges are thick and seem to have holes in them (they are square, but that may only be because of the low texture resolution). There is also either a vein or a river running to the East of the structure

What in god's name is this?

It's an antitque globe, so America hadn't been discovered yet, and they used the blank space for the (rectangular) map legend.

Very odd, sorta looks like a texture glitch. I can't remember seeing this model within breen's office, is that particular part of the model visible in his office?

Reguardless, as someone else mentioned valve did say that the black mesa gang moved to europe, this might be what they were retreating from!
