The Dumbest Bug Ever

I really do love this game, being the first game that had the ending not spoiled for me. However I have a very specific bug that makes leveling past the teen levels very difficult.

I have the occasional crashes in between loading screens and areas but these are bearable. However, I am fed up with this one particular bug that seems I'm the only one that has it.

Almost everytime a bow is taken out or put away by anyone or anything while I am in the 1st person, it crashes with a BSOD!

Now, I noticed that if I am in the 3rd person, it doesnt not crash as often, but this is useless due to that it seems that this does not work with the Dwarven or Daedric bow. I've also noticed how every sound in the game sounds distorted that what it should sound like.

Please tell me how I can fix this, it's driving me crazy! D:

I get an error message every time I try to uninstall. :|

wow. That's reeeeally lame. Have you tried the Bethesda support? (if there is any)

What about installing directly over your old install? Could be just a corrupt install that overwriting the files might fix.

After searching a bit on the main forums I think I found a user made fix. I'll post the thread here if anyone else has this problem also.

To fix that unstall error (maybe)...

If you repeatedly uninstall and re-install Oblivion, certain systems will display an error message if you try to uninstall Oblivion again. To fix this, put your Oblivion disk in and run setup.exe. This will clear up the error and you can uninstall and reinstall the game.

Holy crap... this sounds like the bug that's been screwing with my Oblivion! Never noticed it was related to bows though... but now I think of it, it became more common on my rogue since I got that dwarven bow, and it happened around bandits in the wilderness alot :O
