Any trance fan has probably heard of Armin Van Buuren, and I thought that with the release of his new album, Imagine, he got a discussion thread.

First off, without AvB doing the A State Of Trance Episodes, I never would've heard of some rather beautiful tracks (Big Sky by Audrey Gallagher; Something Inside of Me by Allure ft. Julie Thompson; David by Michael Cassette) so here is an early Episode from 2007; Episode 337

Second, probably the most well known song on the album Imagine, this is Going Wrong with Chris Jones and DJ Shah (not the full song, this is Armins radio edit; the full track is almost 6 minutes long)

And finally, this is Armin live @ Sensation White

Vegeta - Not all trance sounds like that (Going Wrong) Everything has its own beat.

Spark - No

Shift - the *#2 DJ in the world.

*The album Imagine has a sticker saying #1 but an online DJ rank list gave that spot to Tiesto.

I wasn't being serious, but that beat is in all 3 of the videos you posted.

I like a couple of that dj's more ambient songs.

And to Vegeta, doesn't trance usually have a constant beat for most songs, trance isn't about the beat right, it's about the ambiance and atmosphere etc.

Armin is an absolutely amazing DJ, fantastic Live outbreaks and just epic on the decks. World reknown in the dance scene as being the best of the best (alongside Tietso). Also owns one of the most well known labels in the progressive scene. No other DJ rivals him live on the decks.

Major love to the man. This thread is well deserved.

edit: Also, never seen much of the film clip (only saw some of the clip at Metro's) but the cameo's of Armin + DJ Shah made me smile :D

I know that lol, like I said I was just joking.

Mixing trance is like diarrhea, really easy to do but, in the end, horrible.
Give me a man who can seamlessly mix 7/18 jazz with swung triplets with some 180 bpm Scouse house. That's a f*cking DJ.

I kid, I kid.

Or do I.

yeah

Trance is not easy, look at the song Sirens of the Sea by Above and Beyond. Took 2 years to produce and is pretty ****ing amazing.
