what if not taking the gman's offer at the end of HL1, meant that even though you go to the place with aliens, you weren't killed, it just faded out to the credits..

THEN in HL2 it actually picked up there.. facing the 20 odd aliens.. but right to your immediate right is a corpse with some ammo and medkit n battery for your suit! so.. you grab them and in true Gordon Freeman style kick ass. the rest of the game is then just navigating your way out of Xen.. back to earth.. and THEN you find its the 7 hour war (since gman hasnt put you into a stasis) and you fight it.. ETC

would be weird really.

anyways thanks.

That would actually be an interesting alt version, where you actually fight during the seven hour war, but the combine would win that anyways to continue the storyline, otherwise, there'd be no more material to play!
Maybe someone will mod something like that someday...

It's a Hobson's Choice. It means that if you don't take it, you're going to have your ass served to you. There isn't really anywhere to go, and you're bound to die. There isn't an alternate universe.

Besides... where are the spoilers?

non-linear ftl!

i wouldn't mind actually having a chance to fight the aliens, but i wouldn't want the story to continue because then that just wouldn't work out.

Besides, without the Gman to help you out... how far do you really think you could go??

true.. it was just an idea

+ the spoilers was mentioning the choice at the end of HL1, i no there might of been sum people who havent completed it and didnt want to ruin it so i put it up just in case!

=]

He wasn't helping you in BM just observing and I'd argue that those accomplishments were equal to those of HL2.

I don't think there saying he's saying that the g-man helped you with combat but he did save your ass on Xen where face it, you were stranded.

As to the secondary ending I don't believe it was ever meant to be a real ending it was meant to show you that you had made the wrong decision and were about to get pwned. No matter how good you think you are you couldn't have won that battle without cheating.

Noes!

It's Half-Life : Invasion, a french yet awesome mod where the player refuses G-mans offer.

There arent any hl2 mod about it.

"The illusion of free choice.." thats what the GMan says in HL2, implying that Gorodn has no free will.

Perhaps, even if Gordon had taken the "death" option, he would have found himself in the GMan's grasp regardless.

lol i looked at some of the screenies for HLinvasion and ur in a blue suit? so unless gordon fell into a room full of blue paint, changed suits, or it isnt gordon at all.. then i dont no what to think about this mod. plus.. french =/

On another note... i no that refusing the gmans offer does mean death, but im talking in the world of IF'S and BUT'S and MAYBE'S, where imagination and speculation roam free in a world detached from continuity

"No regrets, Mr. Freeman. But there are a few survivors of your personal holocaust who would like to meet the man responsible for the total annihilation of their race."

And then you're standing in front of the last vestige of Nihilanth's army: a platoon of grunts and controllers with air-support mantas. You're staring at certain death.

Until a portal storm rips through their ranks, displacing them--and you. And like the vortigaunts, somehow, you're ported back to Earth.

But the trouble is, you see, unless you had some way to link up with your fellows from Black Mesa, once the Combine arrived you'd be boned. There's no guarantee what would happen then. And how many places could you take that "What if?" scenario?

Well... what if the Resonance Cascade had never even occured??

At least he'd still be in pocket when it comes to certain people's beers

Actually there is, I've played it. It's this mod if you do not step into the portal like G-man says you'll be transported back to Xen where you have to kill Vortigaunts. It was a neat idea, but constantly killing random spawning Vortigaunts (HL2 verson) gets very tedious and annoying after a while.

Then in the final chapter in the mod, you fight both Vortigaunts and Combine soldiers... why are Combine soldiers on Xen?! Firstly, the Combine we're never on Xen and the human race haven't yet been "co-opted" into the Combine empire at that particular point in the story.

imagine having to hear that "welcome to black mesa" speech EVERY day on your journey to work.

Well, when I first got it, it never saved when the shit hit the fan so I had to do everything leading up to the RC three damn times on my first go.

What happened to your autosaves?

Not that it matters, I'd watch that opening scene over and over again (if I could), jumping up and down on the seats... aah, nostalgia...

would gordon have speech? because a whole movie when the main protagonist doesnt speak could be either really good or terrible..

Please don't turn this thread into an HL movie thread.

Anyway, the tram sequence is important, and it would definitely have Gordon Freeman as the man in the tram, but he would have to not be the main character. He'd just be that guy who pushes the crystal into the spectrometer while other characters take the job of narrating from there.

Hell if I know O_O

Anyways if they ever do a HL movie, they MUST have the tram scene. He must be alone, and standing the whole time.

Standing?? What HL game did you play? I always attempted to make him sit on the seat!

lol ya, I tried to make him as normal as possible, walking the same speed as the guards and scientists, crouching/sitting on the seats...
