Ships. Gamers. Weapons. Death. [br]

That was the basic premise of The Ship in its first incarnation on Steam. However the Outerlight Ltd team have finished their work on the Single-Player component of The Ship, which is now available on Steam for $9.95 (£5).

The Ship is owned by the mysterious Mr X and as one of many "lucky" recipients of a free ticket you arrive on board The Ship to find there's a catch to your luxury cruise. The passengers are coerced into a brutal Hunt to indulge Mr. X's fantasies. Can you survive the voyage? Can you unravel the mystery of Mr X and ultimately can you escape his clutches?[br]
This single player mission based campaign provides a good introduction to the world of The Ship.

Still reading? Okay, this is what you do to get this game. Boot up your Steam client and purchase through that, or go here to purchase it and find more screenshots.

was this free for those who purchased the regular ship multiplayer?

Apparently not...the game sucks a lot, servers are unpopulated as well. The game was a total waste of 15 dollars, and it's really a load of crap that they're not giving the people who bought the MP the SP for free.

yeah, you'd think they would give this to the people who bought the MP, I guess then need money though...

I know many people who are very angry because they thought they were getting the singleplayer with their mutliplayer purchase.
I remember the old Ship from Half-Life (not 2) being fun, but maybe things have changed...

This is BS, I pay for The Ship, then I have to pay again for Singleplayer? No thanks.

Their doing bad enough with the Multiplayer version, hardly any one plays it already.

.....erm. WHAT? you dont get this if you bought the MP component, I guess they wasted their time making this then as very very few will buy this, and the people who bought the MP and are getting stiffed most certainly wont buy it either.

Does the retail version include MP and SP? If so i'll get it if not forget it outerlight!

Time for a new project, Outerlight.

D:

Every review I read about the The Ship for Source made a big point about single player with bots being rubbish (the game apparently only coming into its own when playing against fellow human players). I'd have to read something very positive from a very reliable source before I'd be willing to give The Ship SP a try. Outerlight should at least offer the SP component for a $5 discount for people who bought the MP version, or some sort of gesture toward their stronger supporters. I dunno, I'm not in their shoes so perhaps a good reason for this does exist.

I dont own The Ship MP, but I still think this SP part should be free for the MP owners. This is sad.

They made the singleplayer part mainly for inclusion in the retail version. But steam users can buy the singleplayer games for a small price.

Honestly though the bots aren't that great, I can't imagine buying the SP game. I have the multiplayer 'steam' version, it's great fun, but only if there are other humans playing not bots.

Sadly servers with human players no longer exist in Australia :(

Yep this is absolutely ridiculous, I can't believe they're pulling this crap on their customers. I mainly purchased the MP portion in the first place because I thought I was getting the SP portion when it was released. Well one thing's for sure, I'm not buying another Outerlight product.

It's a tribute to the way they think surely,

Project Manager: "if it sounds good and looks decent most people will buy it anyway muahaha!.
Lead Designer: " off to teh bankzor sirz?"
Project Manager: " Yesh! fly, fly my pretty! fly!"

boycott ftw.

God, they're not a mod team anymore. They did The Ship for HL as a 'demo', anyway.
