So there's a Walking Dead game coming out late April and it's being created by Telltale Games. So as you've probably guessed it'll be an adventure game using the episodic model. Trailer below:

And 12 minutes of gameplay taken from the Xbox. (Obviously spoilers inside):

I know there's mixed feeling about the TV series. But as a fan of the comics I'm looking forward to this.

Anyone else getting it?

I can't imagine being much of a fan but if I'm allowed the opportunity to kill Dale than I suppose I'll have to give it a fair try.

I don't think it looks much better than the horrendous Jurassic Park gameplay, honestly. It looks like a cutscene with a ton of quicktime events.

I've not played Jurassic Park. I need to check out some gameplay videos of that.

To be honest I've only played Telltales Monkey Island and a bit of Sam and Max and they're both traditional point and click games. This looks like more of an interactive cut scene like you said.

Was wondering why there were two walking dead threads.

That gameplay video was ****ing abysmal.

Another QTE fueled game like Jurassic Park.
What the hell, Telltale?

I was a big fan of Telltale when they used to make point and click adventures. I stopped buying their games after the whole debacle with the delayed free episode 1 of Back To The Future and I'm glad I did because the quality of their games had plummeted. Was actually quite interested in this when it was announced but after the failure that was JP I'm not handing over anything for something that's going to be the same type of game.

Looks bad. Just stop making games about zombies period. They're stupid and uninteresting. Christ.

Bought this after watching a few gameplay videos and actually rather enjoyed it. It can be very tense at times and the dialogue system is great imo. I want to replay it and see what happens when I pick different options, but your choices seem to carry across episodes so I'd better wait.

and to my pleasant surprise, there were very few uses of QTE's which is great.

I really enjoyed episode 1. For the style of game it is, I thought it was really well done. I could completely understand if this style of game isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I thought it was a refreshing change.

Yeah, gotta say Telltale have done a good job with this, first game I've bought from them in over a year and if every episode can live up to the first then I'll get my moneys worth.

I enjoyed the first episode too. Not my typical type of game but since it's got zombies and is tied to TWD (closer to the comics than the tv series) I was all over this.

The teaser for the next episode at the end of the first looked awesome.

I thought this game was great. Had some good puzzles and such, and the QTE's were just right and allowed for some tense situations. I can't wait for the next episode!

I think they missed out on a few opportunities for some good logic puzzles but I loved the parking lot scene where you have to take out the zombies one at a time

This game has some good writing as well, I mean MUCH better than the show and comic

Great series, I hope they make another.

I didn't think Episode 4 was very good. I thought Episode 5 was great. Before, I was scoffing at the GOTY talk regarding this game. Now I just don't know. Telltale really shat a gold brick with the writing for the finale. Still all choked up.

****, now I have to go back to the bullshit of Hitman.

Wow, I havent felt this way from a video game in a long, long time. I actually had to wipe a couple tears from my eyes. It was so well done, the whole game, and this episode was just incredible. It was short, but the pacing was perfect, and, just... damn.

Is it really that moving?

My save file got wiped when the game updated for episode 3 so I've not bothered with it since. If it is I might play through this over the weekend.

It's definitely worth finishing. Episode 4 drags on a bit but episode 5 is amazing.

Might buy.. **** I'm so poor but steam has it for like 12 bucks right now.

I feel Episode 4 'dragged' purely because it was a rest period after all shit broke loose in Episode 3, essentially a slow build up to the awesome Episode 5 finale.

Great end to a great series. I really enjoyed the central relationship and all of the character interaction in general. It always felt true to the nature of the comics and managed to create a really decent story within the same universe.

Make sure you watch to the end of the credits though!

Never really looked into this game, assumed it'd be a game version of the show but lo and behold it's some original story. Bought!

Okay, as a rule I never buy a game unless it's under 10 bucks and atleast 66% off during Steam sales and I've now broken both those rules due to the raving yall are doing. If this isn't amazing I'll be rather upset.

Dont get your hopes up about really fun gameplay or the "the story is tailored to how you play" thing. But the writing and characters, etc are something you don't see in games.

No, yeah, that's what I picked up on and I'm definitely okay with that.

There was one part towards the end I found illogical, but overall this game tells a superb story. Sure, there is the illusion of choice, but this functions to dovetail the narrative into a more pleasing package. And what a pleasing package TWD is. Rarely has a game's ending been so emotionally impactful for me, and I truly felt more sorry for Clementine than for Lee by the end of the journey.

The cliffhanger ending pissed me off a bit, but season 2 could change that. That aside, this was just...an incredible story. The depressing ending blew my mind.

I'm into ep4 now. Going to be finishing this today. Need to know what happens! Been great so far though. Pretty much everything has gone to shit for my guys (I guess it does for everyone, but people I wanted alive ended up dying). They've done a great job showing how harsh the world during a zombie apocalypse can be!

The writing really bespeaks significant talent, in that after the end of Ep. 4, I still wanted to pursue the finale.

The theme of the Walking Dead was expertly applied during the ending. Pre-disaster identity does not necessarily matter. Lee, despite his dark past, became something else entirely, or rather he was allowed to exercise his dormant capacity through Clementine and the dire situations they found themselves in.

Also, the stark contrast between the ending and the tune of the credits song evoked this weird feeling in me.

One of the few games I've actually played right when I got it in one of these sales.

Just finished it, very moving.

I may give it another play through to see if doing things different would actually change the outcome. Thought I doubt it will change much, might be interesting.

***Spoilers below. Are the tags not working?***

I guess there is going to be a sequel, I've seen talk of one online and the scene after the credits leaves it open. It might be interesting to play as Clementine next time. Was pretty impressive how Telltale handled Clementine too. Normally escorting kids about in games is a chore. I actually wanted to do the best for her I could.

Poor girl.

Carry on.

ABSOLUTELY incredible game; hats off to the team behind this. I was conisistently immersed. Compare this to the dogsh** that is the TV series of The Walking Dead, and there is simply no comparison. I had to hold back tears at the end.

Just finished Episode 2. I thought it couldn't get any heavier emotionally from the first episode but god damn... Creepy as **** episode. The writing is fantastic. It just keeps shocking you.

The part where you have to cut the leg off, the part where you have to deal the food (I did Clem, Duck, Mark and Kenny), the part in the forest when you realize they're cannibals, the part where Danny begs you to kill him and you see his mother floundering to bite him...
