Hey, i've never seen this one! Mossmens hide out in EP1? I didn't aware of such a thing. Where exactly is this?
 
This might take some explaining.

Ok, when you're in the reactor core, Alyx shows you a video message, right?

Well, the game engine is programmed in such a way, that whatever is shown on a screen is actually happening somewhere on the map, and merely being broadcast to your monitor.

This includes Breencasts, so on every map with a Breencast (or a gman sighting on TV) in an inaccessible part of the map, there's a Breen model (or half of a Breen model, or a GMan, or Kleiner - whatever) doing the lipsyncing, the gestures etc.

So when Mossman is sending you a transmission, everything - including the Hunter - is in another, inaccessible part of the map.

And that's where that board is.

Which also happens to be the one in Kleiners lab.
 
can i have more info? has this image been seen b4 and what does it mean?
 
Yeah, it has been seen "b4". It's in Kleiner's lab in Half-Life 2, if you even played that part, and it doesn't mean anything, iut just explains a lot about the story of the game and has some easter eggs.

If people still arn't sure where it from Jintor's explination, turn on the commentary at that point. The commentary node there has Valve explaining and showing you. Or just fly around in noclip and you should be able to find it.

You can sometimes find interesting things while in noclip, like the time I found this place (took me a bit to realise where it was from).

Wait, if that's the place Gordon and Lamar were transported to, are we going to find Lamar somewhere along the way in ep2? Just kidding, but that's cool.

Actually, finding Lamarr in Ep2 would be teh uberness.
 
Lamarr appears in HL2 back in Kleiner's lab several chapters (and a week) after she's left in the wasteland. She also appears briefly in the Kleinercast in EP1. She doesn't need to be found, she's with Kleiner.
 
I thought the wasteland was all foresty and stuff, from what we've seen of Episode Two? I know that the early ideas were similar to that, or big sandy deserts, but that place is looking really out of place now, if you'll pardon the pun.
 
There's a LOT of world to cover.
 
sorry, din realize that was in keliners lab..in hl2...but interesting that its in ossman's hideout..
 
Well obviously it would be impossible in real life for a board like that to be identical to another, especially with young alyx's drawing of 'Uncle Kleiner'. I don't think she'd do two copies...

Basically, when Valve made the Mossman lab, it was probably just a suitable prop to decorate the environment rather than make a new one. Considering you don't even really see much of it. Don't read too much into it, take it with a pinch of salt.

Maybe Mossman needed one of the notes on there and didn't want to disturb the carefully organized structure of Kleiner's board so she took it with her to the arctic?
 
I started a thread identical to this a while ago, and it was concluded, as others have said, it was a placeholder.

Anyone have any idea what it is?

Edit - Upon further inspection, it seems to be just one of the teleporters from the first time we're in klieners lab.
 
1. Yes, that is Kleiner's teleport.
2. The reason its in the new Gman art is because Gman is in Mossman's hideout there...
 
I really hope there's an arctic section in Episode Two. Or at some point in the series.
 
So hl2e2 will be in forest? Or other areas too. Been away from the videos.
