I've just realised something interesting (well to me anyway, but I'm interested by stupid things ;)). If Valve go ahead with their simultaneous worldwide release plan, then people in Europe will be playing the game hours before people in the US.

Because of the time difference, by the time Americans get up on the day of release, the internet will already be flooded with threads, posts, articles and other things related to the game, since Europeans will have been playing away for 5, 6, 7, even 8 hours already.

I'd definitely advise not going online before heading to the shop anyway...

This thought doesn't actually have much point. I just thought it was a tad odd and interesting, but feel free to tell me I shouldn't have bothered. ;)

I pretty much think its just the opposite. We in Europe will have to wait a day. Thats what has been happening with the preloads because they were realeased in the middle of the night here.

Yeah, but there's one problem for us... we who have the ATI thingy will get HL2 when Valve unlocks it... If I were to buy it from the store I would get it at 9 am! si teh ridiculous!

It'll be released same time everywhere (not at 8AM on the 5th - as an example) but will most likely be in the daytime (US) on whatever day - simply because Valve is in the US. So it could be 8AM (US time), but what does that equate to other time zones around the world - might be 9PM for some, might be 4PM for others, etc.

Well, it's going to be 1AM for somebody. You can't please everyone.

They'll probably do it the same as they did with Condition Zero...

But with teh reetail man! that will be out whenever a shop opens in a country!

Aren't most games delayed overseas? Normally US gets the games first, right? I remember seeing many times in forums how the overseas countries were always distraught due to having to wait.

I feel for em :(.

It'll most likely be released on American Time meaning it'll be the middle of the night where you are.

I actually don't care at what time it gets released, as long as it's released while I'm alive. You'll never know when a truck hit you on the street, when frozen urine from a planetoilet impales you, when a meteor hits you on the head or when WW3 is lauched by George W. Bushwacker. Just release it while I'm breathing, Valve!! HEAR ME OUT!!

I was planning not to visit any site or forum related to HL² from the release till the moment I finished singleplayer and tried out multiplayer.

And yeah, normally games are first released in the US, so we (Europeans) will have to wait :hmph:
But then, imagine how long Asian people will have to wait!

its like the sims2 that came out on Tuesday in the US we in the UK have to wait to tomorrow to get it so it might be like that

This only applies to games that are made in the US. For obvious reasons.
