Un-Installing HL 2...

If you have purchased hl2 through steam, i know about the whole "its saved to your steam account thingy" in terms of cd key wise... but if i were to uninstall hl2 then reinstall it, (dont ask why plz ) how would i go by doing this? would i just download it again but it will recognize that my steam acount name is registered and that ive bought it? or will it make me rebuy it to reinstall it?

It would, presumably, just re-download it and you'd be able to play.

I think though Im not an expert that your Steam account is registered to Own HL2 and whatever else you've bought.So aslong as you log in as your Account you shouldnt have trouble re-downloading it

If you have to Uninstall it might I suggest backing it up first so you dont have to Download it and can simply install from the disk.

Oh ok! thanks voodo, i know how to back things up but, how do i go by putting them on a disk?

can you just burn them like music or somthing?

Steam now has that option. Click HL2 in My Games list and choose Backup game files.

Not entirely sure,havent done it myself but the Steam Help Forums here: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=18 Might contain the answer.
Ill make a guess and say you could simply burn it on as a data disc and then like a backup from the Harddrive it would work the same way.There are people on here with more expierience in this then me though.

but then they go to your backup folder under steam, what im wondering is, after you back them up, do you put them on a disk? or ...?

as long as you use it with the same account that the key is registered youl be fine

um, well ive been haveing acouple of glitches in it, and i wanted to see if i could fix it by reinstalling, but i guess ill just bak up the files and hope the glitch was just a 1 time thing
