Sup guys, I've been googling around but there was no answer to my question. I bought HL2 and it came with 5 cd's. As we all know, you have to have cd1 inserted into the cd drive to play the game. I want to make a backup of CD1 just in case of wear and tear. I know HL has a back up utility. If I backup my Half life and counter strike source to DVD using steam backup wizard, wont the game still need the original CD1 to play the game? Just wanted to know your thoughts on how to copy CD1 and the benefits of making a backup. Thanks!

Have you tried any of the latest versions of various burning proggies like Alcohol 120%, CloneCD, etc?

I have nero ultra and daemon tools. But it is possible to make a a copy of cd 1 right?

Nero tends to suck at making copies of protected CDs or at least it did in the past. Something like Alcohol 120% is far better at it. I don't know if CloneCD is even around anymore as I haven't been keeping up to date with it. You could always try making an image with Alcohol (or even just try it with Nero), mount it with Daemon Tools and see if it works.
