you cant get the "engine" you must use source sdk that is on steam

thanks.... arrrg! i dont have anough HDD space ah well... sod school work!!

thanks again

You're telling me you can't make a simple level (not a modded level, just a level) without the SDK?

Yup SDK is in the Tools section on the steam list.

You're telling me you can't make a simple level (not a modded level, just a level) without the SDK?

Thats what its for the sdk.

you can make any level you want but the only way you can do it is with the source sdk

SDK is the Source Development Kit, and it contains all the modding tools to make things for the source engine. Hammer is used to make maps, like you said you wanted to. However it's a pretty steep learning curve to learn, and to be good at it is even harder. Good luck...finding where SDK is, and more.

I'm sure if you were to contact VALVe and ask them for their Engine they might consider selling it to you. You might find yourself slightly out of pocket though.

i typed it in google!! and i got a demo :D:D:D thnx for the helpo :D

i nicked this info of from steam :D hehe (im kool lol)

Hears a link for More Info.... http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/SDK_Docs
"The Source SDK is freely available to all owners of Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source. At this point, no other Source game gives access."

If You Want To Download it Hear Are The Instructions

To install the Source SDK:

1. Open the Steam window.
2. Click on the Tools tab.
3. Double-click on the Source SDK entry.
4. The Source SDK will then be downloaded to your computer via Steam.

Once it has been fully installed, you will be able to launch it in the same way you installed it (from the Tools tab).

You can also create a desktop shortcut for the Source SDK by right-clicking on the Source SDK entry and clicking Create desktop shortcut from the context menu.
Image:note.png Note: For the SDK to function correctly, it is important that any games you wish to edit are fully up-to-date. You can make sure of this by running the game before launching the Source SDK. Simply launching the game then quitting after you get to the main menu is sufficient.

Kool or what lol :D

Jammy!! :D

uh they allow you to use the sdk with the demo????? how???? you dont have the full game.

nah i typed it in google and it sayed 'SDK DEMO' i got confused so i cliked on it then it took me to the vavle thingi.. and it tells ya how to do it... (i got the full game :D, the box set, pre-order :P)

You don't need to inform us, we are more than familiar with the SDK set-up, and also giant, it's silly you didn't read the first line...for SDK you must own HL2 and CS:S. The demo does not count. Anyway Jammy, please read your PM's and stop drinking so much coffee.
