corridor crawl horror fps like Prey, Doom, Fear, etc etc etc ..Stalker is the only exception to the rule as it doesnt feel like a scripted ride in a funhouse like the majority of horror fps do

also tired of military shooters like Ghost recon, Rainbow 6 etc ..I used to love ghost recon ...now it's a pale imitation meant to appeal to casual gamers with short attention spans who wouldnt be able to tell that they're playing the exact same shooter they've been playing for years, only with shiner graphics/new (same) guns

Categories that games like Guitar Hero fall into and for some reason i also want MMORPGs to go.
Yes theyre billion dollar industries and you meet new people all the time so its sociable, but games like WoW and Guild Wars ruined my life. I stopped seeing friends, doing homework and coursework etc...and whats worse is how i cant stop thinking about them now that ive left..FFS!

First person shooter games that feel the only gameplay you can squeeze from the genre is move from room to room, shoot, rinse repeat. More games need to take advantage of the idea of a First person perspective, and stop being so narrow-minded.

Halo and all of its clones, I'm looking at you, you ugly sons of bitches.

yeah i wanna abolish the rubbish 'horror' shooters too, not only are they completely unscary, its basically, go into area, a bunch of enemies spawn, kill enemies, go into next area, a bunch of enemies spawn, kill enemies etc etc. Once you play FPSs with so much depth like HL2, other games really, really have to tried hard if they are gonna impress me now. In short i only play games now, if they are awsome lol.

and yeah i agree on the military shooters, the modern ones i have played have been rubbish, well Rainbow Six: Vegas is decent when playing with a mate, the single player is shocking, i was bored with GRAW 2 only after the first chapter. The king of military shooters will always be Operation Flashpoint as far as i am concerned.

Oh, and Guitar Hero 1+2, wtf man! Learn the REAL guitar for the love of god!

Agreed with the above.

Also, most new RTS games such as C&C3. It does nothing that the previous games haven't already done, yet gaming websites all give it 8+ out of 10. Pitiful.

I can't think of any genres I'd like to see go.

Also, FEAR rocked.

my thoughts exactly, all my mates rushed out to geth C&C3 and all say its great, but its just the same game as the originals but with better gfx, and of course, i get stick for it lol.

Company of Heroes has been the only awsome modern RTS i have seen so far.

The Sims. That's it. I like all other types of games. At least htat I can think of....

Side-scrolling platformers, we have 3D graphics now, no need for that 2D shite. It'd also be nice if they got rid of any MMO games that aren't RPGs

dont get me wrong, Fear had great combat ..but it still relied on much of the same conventions as other horror games

mmorpgs are here to stay and are probably going to be the bulk of pc gaming in the near future ..I just hope there's real innovation in the years to come. Oh and I'm so tired of high fantasy games that do little more than mimic WoW and offer little else ..I mean why would I play an inferior clone?

All kinds off MMOs especially RPGs. Also I hate with a passion all the car sims that went on "the fast and the furious" shit band wagon, yes NFS Underground I'm looking at you

Sports games
Racing games
Wrestling games
Fantasy games

not sure if this is a genre but games based on films. 9 times out of 10 they turn out to be balls.

RPGs, MMOs, RTT, TBS, Adventure, all games like The SIMS

Turn-based RPG's. Down the drain please. Hey, turn-based games all together, it should all go down the drain! :D

Theres only 2 games I enjoyed, Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay and Blade Runner (it was an awesome game!)

Like its been said, room to room horror games. Would like to see them go.

Also the sports games they churn out every year. They're exactly the same as the last, probably just got a few extra blades of grass on the floor or that extra poly on the ball.

Film games also, most suck.

I dont think games like Guitar Hero should go. They are great fun if you play with mates. By yourself though, not so much fun.

Games like the Sims would be better if they focused on one game rather than releasing an expansion pack every month.

What's the point of wishing one genre to go away. That would take away fun from one group of people..what if they wished away your favorite game type? Meh..OH WELL!

BYE BYE SPORTS GAMES!

I think the point is not to make a genre go away but improvise it
also there is the fact that sometimes a genre is used a lot in a repetitive way so it make it anoying
like fantasy mmorpgs, there is so many that you vomit by just hearing the name

so instead of bashing a whole genre I will just list it in a more simple way

lifeless action games
games where you just are placed in the action and there is this character that yells what to do and you just go around killing the same thing over and over and no substance

for example resistance and lost planet

lifelles sandbox games
sometimes when games are given a lot of things to do are good but bad some times
for example all the crappy movie games that allways hav some platformer style of going around collecting stuff and stuff
but other games like games bullit where you make mission where you hav to go to other places and stuff like that

example all the bad GTA clones and movie based games(except for the obvious) cuz they seem to follow that

repetive styles
dont need to explain this, the best example are ww2 based games, the style was used so many times that you cant even look at real WW2 videos whitout feel tired

a example as I said all the WW2 themed games

as you said I listed mainly lifeless cuz in my opinion instead of trowing a genre it should be improvised

for example I would love to see a new comandos games like the originals
as you see I repeated lifeless cuz I think

I agree that genres should not go away. Different people, different tastes - if I don't like a particular genre, I won't buy games within it, but others may enjoy them.

And RJMC, you meant "improve".

I've been sick to death of World War 1, 2, and vietnam games for like 5 years. I'll enlist before I buy another one.

war games are boring as hell gtfo all of them.

we need some ghost town games...i love games like that, kinda like silent hill or resident evil...where they have a lot of depth and it's just plain creepy (doesn't matter if it's 3rd person for FPS).

RTS (real-time strategy), and stealth/tactical shooters. Go away from me. Either they are too complicated, too much of a learning curve, too boring, or I'm too dumb. I think it's a combination of these things.

Turn-based games, gtfo.

Realistic racing games, so boring.
