I always preferred the A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy series myself. The author, George R.R. Martin, is quite good.

It got rather meh after book 7.

The first book is definatly worth a read, but I think they go down hill from there on.
I got bored out of my wits by about 6/7.

I'm telling ya folks, pick up ASOIAF! Four books so far, all of them great, and they don't meander off meaninglessly, which with all due respect, WOT is somewhat guilty of.

Book 11 is really good. Actually I like them all, theres a bit of a sag around 6/7 but it picks up again.
