I'd like to know how those of us who spend alot of our time doing things in the Half-Life community feel about their involvement in the Half-Life world.

Mod creators: where is your mod? Have you completely stopped development? Has alot of your work gone down the tubes because of Steam? Are your coders fed-up with waiting for the source code? Are you still working on your project for Half-Life or have you gone to other games?

Texture artists: do you still make textures? do you wonder if the detail of your textures will work in the new Hammer? Are you still working on other projects for Half-Life or have you gone to other games?

Skybox artists: do you still make skies? Do you have any clue what kind of skies you'll be able to make for HL2? Do you even worry about it anymore? Are you still working on skies for Half-Life or have you gone to other games?

Modelers: do you continue to model? Are you concerned that the models you make today will simply fade away and never be used by players? Do you still model for Half-Life, or have you gone to other games?

Mappers: are you still mapping? Do you even waste your time on new maps for Half-Life since it is becomming so obsolete so fast? Are you still working on maps for Half-Life or have you gone onto other games?

Players: do you play Half-Life anymore? Has Steam ruined your experiences and made it nothing more than frustration to play the game any more? Are you still trying to play Half-Life or have you gone to other games?

For me? as a mapper...I have stopped making deathmatch maps. I rarely play Half-Life anymore when in the past, I would play 5 to 6 hours a day. Half-Life is quickly fading away for me...and it's very sad, not only for me, but also for those who enjoyed my deathmatch maps so much. ;(

Where are you now in your Half-Life world?

Mod designer:

Im still working on my mod. I got a lot to do while im waiting for the source to come out, but it would be nice to have it asap.

Im making a singleplayer mod so the script takes a lot of time. Me and my team are soon done with the new webdesign (a real webdesign this time) and will release some new media for the public. You can find the url in my sign.

I really dont want the game... i want the SDK! :D

Hmm.. interesting question. I played HL (SP) to death and a bit of CS. Few months ago with the HL2 hype at its peak I played HL again. But now I only play other games and visit this place just to pass the time.

Well I don't play Half-Life on a regular basis anymore, everyone will get tired of every game at a certain point. But I'd also like to point out that I think HL did a better job in keeping players than most other games. Just look at all the mods, look at all the players who is still here. You're not going to see that in another game just as old (Massive Multiplayer Online Games is perhaps one of the only exceptions.)

I'm just playing through my games collection again, while churning out art and concepts for my planned mod.

I'm just getting back into Diablo II.

last time i played hl was a few months ago now i'm trying to get through deus ex.

Oh wait... wasnt we talking about HL2?

The thread is in the hl2 forum :)

My mod is crippled until A) I get a decent PC and B) HL2 comes out. Such is life.
Hell, my shitty PC means I can't map, mod or even play HL - my monitor is so dark, even on full brightness, that HL is unplayable.

I play CS quite regularly, both with and without cheats..

Mod Designer:
I just started, so I haven't even gotten past getting the website done. :) No problems there.

Player:
I still play from time to time... Steam is really what brought me back...

Mod developer:

Got fed up of waiting for HL2 and the SDK. Started work on our own engine instead, so we can develop our own commercial game. In retrospect, HL2 being delayed has worked out well for us.

Player, I am playing the whole HL generation again, plus CS1.5 online

MOD developer:
Recruting and trying to model and map a few things. Coming along rather nicely.

Player:
Playing CS at the moment.

I play Half Life whenever I finish a game I really liked and want to keep playing something good, but I've now gone through Half Life, OpFor, and Blue Shift so many times that I'm beginning to lose interest. I do the same thing with just looking here when I'm bored.

mapping-wise, I don't map nearly as much as I used too

but valve has given us the information we need to model and texture for HL2 right now, so that's not a problem

I still play a little bit of firearms halflife now and then

I am messing around with 3 more maps but honestly i've kinda lost interest in mapping for HL1. I considered trying to map for DOD but don't know if i want to commit. I have discovered that DOD is an incredibly fun mod.
