The Combine come from another universe. They were a race unlike humans, until they began to depend too heavily on the technology they created to improve their living conditions. Ultimately they expanded and began dominating and enslave more races across their galaxy/universe using teleportation. In enslaving these races they forced their technology upon them. For example, striders and gunships.
They to Earth via the portal storms, attracted to our planet due to the dimensional rift caused by the Black Mesa incident. It is worthy to note that there are no actual Combine aliens shown in HL2 bar the Advisor.
The Combine defeated a bunch of humans in 7 hours by attacking from behind and had no idea what was about to happen using presumably a gigantic army. A single Combine city with an occupation force fell to the entire city rebeling for a week.Pesmerga said:The combine have the ability to jump in and out of universes, can destroy all of Earth's military forces in seven hours, yet failed to stop a man.
A freeman.
Edit - Actually, you'd think that if you had the technology to jump around universes, you'd pretty much be able to destroy it, too. Or at least... iono... it's just a game, Pesmerga, it's just a game.

Pesmerga said:Now that's just silly, Sulkdodds.
How come they can't super-age you like that guy at the end of Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail, then?bbson_john said:Combine come from another dimension(the fourth one).
Sulkdodds said:Well, come on, someone had to say it. I sacrificed my integrity to do what was necessary.
Sulkdodds said:The Combine Homeworld is, apparently, orange.
Why not? It's what Breen was going to teleport into.Samon said:I don't think that was their homeworld.

I'm afraid I don't get what you're trying to say. D:Pesmerge said:When soldiers go home, do they take an airplane trip to their driveway?
What? Could you at least try and make sense? I don't mean the way you write; I just don't get you. Yes, I have heard of M-theory. But often, 'the fourth dimension' is identified as 'time', which compelled me to make that deadpan joke (JOKE). Even if by 'fourth dimension' you mean a spacial dimension, there's absolutely no founding for you to be so sure that they're from it and hell, that doesn't even make sense. They can't be from a dimension in the sense (I assume) you mean the word. "I am from the third dimension!" What, are they creatures of pure spissitude and spassitude?bbson_john said:You seem don't believe of it. Have you ever heard of M-theory? I think I have waste my breath here with a ignoramus

Sulkdodds said:But...there's not really any evidence or reason for that.
There's no evidence for it being the Combine Homeworld either, I suppose. Meh.

Does that mean that if they fought us frontline...we might stand a chance???ríomhaire said:The Combine defeated a bunch of humans in 7 hours by attacking from behind and had no idea what was about to happen using presumably a gigantic army. Isnt that in half life 1 where freeman kills Nihilant...:sniper:<DIE YOU ALIEN SCUM WE RULE, HUMANS RULE MUHAAHAHAHHAHAHA(yeah i did twist the story a bit)Redneck said:Argh this kind of scifi story is really getting old, I would really be surprised if I saw a story where the aliens are the victims and the humans are the villains:naughty: .

In a pitched battle, we'd be f*cked up the ass. Our only hope is forcing them to fight on our terms, our enviroment, ie, cities.Azner said:Does that mean that if they fought us frontline...we might stand a chance???
It was, but we were incredibly unprepared and they came unexpectidly.Pesmerga said:The war was probably fought in our cities... ALL wars are fought in cities these days.
Lightice said:Seriously, the come from another universe. Period. No ambiguity, no objections - a simple, well-stated fact.
