I have money enough for one game, should I pre-order oblivon, seeing as how it "Supposed" to come out soon, or should I get RE4 now, The thing about RE4 is that my controller is old and crappy, I might need a new one, so I would have to play RE4 with a shit controller for now.... DAMMIT!! WHY DO THEY MAKE SO MUCH GOOD GAMES SO CLOSE TOGETHER!?!

Well.. to get a controller I could pawn B&W2, I beat it already, so it wouldn't matter to much....

I played RE4 with a bad controller. Everything worked out fine. Didn't even have to use my effed up L2 button.

It's my analog (Left Analog) you have to bash it upwards to make it work right or it goes of the the right a little bit, very annoying.

Wait for reviews on Oblivion, so much promised... it could all turn out terrible.

But RE4, is pure ownage... I'd rent it first though, as it might not be your cup of tea.

Don't worry, I've beaten all the RE games (Including the Earlier PS2 ones) and I loved them all - they are awesome

I can't play scary games. They creep me out and scare to no end. I dunno why. I mean... like beyond that of a normal person.

Oblivion. I just need to find a good place to pre-order from in the UK :\

EDIT: Amazon ftw.

Raziaar.. Are you kidding?

So your saying that you don't like to play F.E.A.R. or Doom 3 or any other game like that? I mean c'mon..

It's awesome staying up on weekends, turning off all the lights and playing a good scary game!

I'm not kidding. I'm serious. I haven't touched Fear, or played Doom 3 completely through because of this severe fear.

When I was playing psychonauts, during the second half of the game I started getting freaked out. ITs not like panicking, but its like, "okay maybe i'll turn this off and play something else".

I can't explain it. It started up recently, and its tied into my superbly visual and imiginitive mind, where I am constantly assaulted and bombarded by graphic, horrible visions that would put scary movies and books to shame.

I dunno. If that makes me a sissy, maybe I am, but it started recently, and it ****ing SUCKS.

Y'know I used to be like you, I was even scared of the dark, but the way I got over my fears, is thinking of ways to make it good for you.
For Example: A demon comes up and attacks you in your sleep, you wake up and are horrified, so you throw the demon as hard as you can on the floor, stomp on his legs (Breaking them), and then kicking the shit out of the demon, then killing it, now wouldn't that be cool?

I like how most of the people are voting for a game that they've never even played

Personally, I'd recommend RE4. It's just... amazing. I'd gladly play triple the price for it- it's that good. Although, if you have a bad controller... meh, I dunno. It's your call.

Our concious and unconcious minds work differently.

My concious mind is twisted and evil, so it works out.

Weird that, I've got something quite similar. I don't play many survival horror games anyway cos they stress me out so much, but recently my mind's started to blow up and exaggerate violent/scary stuff that I previously used to enjoy, to the point that I can't take it. Generally it's happened for movies though, games are fine. I think it's tied into general anxiety.

As for the OP and the thread topic - depends on what sort of game you like best. I'd go for a class RPG over an RE game right off the bat, but if you're a big fan of the RE series then you probably can't afford not to play RE4. It's weird though, some of it feels so much like MGS, the style and stuff.

Oblivion . HVE YOU SEEN THE VIDEOS!!!. The videos alone are a reason to get the game. I mean you can do pretty much whatever you want.

Have you seen the early HL2 videos?
And look what we got!

Videos don't prove shit.

I'd seriously wait for reviews or possibly(however very unlikely) a demo.

Wait, so is it between RE4 for the PS2 or Gamecube and Oblivion for the 360 or PC?

Either way, RE4 is out now and is seriously amazing on both systems.

Oblivion is supposed to be out in about a month, but who knows if that speculative date will hold--nothing official has been announced yet after all.

If a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush to you, then get RE4 (you won't be disappointed). If, on the other hand, you feel as though you will not have enough money for both in a month, then perhaps wait and see what people say about Oblivion and make a much more well-informed decision then.

Good luck!

Resident Evil 4, at least you know it's fun and good (and what's with people going "oh it will last more hours"? For ****s sake you haven't even played it yet)

Some games aren't scary at all, yet I get freaked out playing them. PoP scares me when I play it alone, more so than F.E.A.R.

If you are a died hard Resident evil fan then there is a possibility that you will actually find RE4 a disappointment, I mean its an awesome game. The gameplay is superb, and the graphics are excellent but ultimately the enviroments amount to about as much originality as Captain generic. And the story is gut bustingly hilariously bad. Bad, bad.

RE4 simply ditched all the horror of the original games and went straight action. As clunky as the originals were, they were fun. Same goes for RE4 - fun, but not amazing.

Bethesda is one of the oldest and still doing good games devs I can remember tbh..
I mean, they did ES1 good, they did Daggerfall(ES2) good, they did Morrowind good.. They're simply a bunch of very talented people..
If Oblivion turns out like shiet, I'll betya Satan will switch place with God, or something along those lines..
But I guess if you're new to the series you might be a bit skeptical, I've been playing since Daggerfall tho, so I'm not very worried myself.:)

Hold your money until after Oblivion comes out, althought there is a very slight chance that it will suck, it's still possible

Meh, I only played Morrowind and found it incredibly boring tbh.
I hate that the game had an FPS element, but hitting enemies and doing damage depended on your stats and not how well you could aim...
Just wasn't my cup of tea.

Well just take a look at gamerankings, RE4 is in a pretty high spot. I would suggest buying that now, and when you have get more money buying RE4.
Overall oblivion would probably be the wiser choice, but make no mistake about it wou will regret not playing RE4. It's an incredible game, with close to 20 hours of gameplay, which is a dammed lot for such a game. Atleast rent it, or torrent it.

Oblivion is not based on dice rolls for hits anymore. If you touch him, you've hit.

Buy RE4 now, play it for a month, sell RE4 on Amazon, use money to buy Oblivion = problem solved!

That has been updated/fixed in oblivion from what I've read, which makes me very happy. That was the major turn-off in the game from what I remmeber, but I created a new class that started with like a 50 sword skill & it wasn't so bad.

Hmmm.... A great idea!

http://www.theelderscrolls.com/codex/team_teamprof_stevem.htm

about combat...although significantly improved, it doesn't particularly specify if they've removed the to hit chance based on skill level. they say that skill level is just as crucial as in the first one, question is if this is in relation to damage only or damage AND hit chance.

I don't care though I'm getting the game anyhow :p

Worth noting is that the amount of damage you deal out however, does depends ALOT on your stats, so if you take on a really powerful enemy, and you're lvl 1, you'll probably be standnig there for a good few hours dashing out damage <3
Albeit I didn't find THAT huge a problem with Morrowinds system, that's probably because I've been used to it since ES2.:p

hmmm i'm really looking forward to oblivion but you should definately get re4, its absolutely intense, the set pieces and pacing is just brilliant, the combat is SO satisfying, the way the enemies react realistically to where you shoot them is one thing i wish all games had, brilliant game...

you should atleast rent it, i have the ps2 version btw and the game has excellent replay value...

RE4 :)

Once you've beaten it a few times check out Oblivion.

If I buy oblivion first, And later I have enough money for RE4, chances are I won't buy it with all the other games that are coming out...
