Why Can't I Put on the HEV Suit

Okay, I'm an idiot and a complete novice, please let me know what I am doing wrong. I know it's something simple but I am going crazy. On Red Letter Day, everyone is yelling at me to put my HEV suit on, I walk up to it, and for some reason, I can't get into it... What am I supposed to do...

Sorry! Yes, I have the impulse 101 cheat on.... I should have mentioned that by like every cheater, I try to hide my deceitful, cheating ways...

Do I have to reload it and play a new game from the beginning without the cheat? I tried saving and then reloading it and starting at the lab and the cheats were still activated... Is there a way to turn off the cheats? If not, I guess I'll have to play the game straight

Actually, I godded+impulsed through it the first time, now the second time I'm replaying with the SGG, the third time is going to be cheat-free, and the fourth, fifth, and sixth time will be gravity gun and crowbar on all the difficulty levels.

Why would you pay for a game if your plan is to immediately remove the gameplay aspect?

Never used impulse 101 on the first chapter(except that first time to see the weapons in the Substance Mod after playing that VR Training Map). The only time is after I get to the roof, to put Godmode on so I won't get injured by the Combine.

The first time I use impulse 101 is after I get the crowbar from Barney. I have learned my mistake with impulse 101, when it came to picking up the Gravity Gun in the Citadel after Breen leaves it to head for the Combine Dark Fusion Reactor. Alyx kept telling me to pick it up, but I already had it, thanks to impulse 101.

It's safe to use impulse 101 when Alyx first gives you the Gravity Gun, and when Odessa "gives" you the RPG(what I mean by "give" is it drops to the floor, but doesn't screw up the script).

Just, don't use impulse 101 until Barney gives you your crowbar. What I do.

Let's see why do I cheat... Yes, I agree it kills a lot of the fun of the gameplay. Ruins the suspense and unpredictablilty. Your heart doesn't beat as fast, you're not stressed, or scared, or much of anything really. I guess my real life has so much stress and suspense, I like to play my games in a dull, unexciting world that I control. I duuno. Or maybe I'm just too impatient and want to finish the game in a shorter amount of time... Anyway, I'll definitely try it without the cheats, though. Like I said, it is more fun without the cheats. I won GTA:Vice City with only a little help from the cheats and that was a blast. Took me friggen' forever but hey, why waste $50 on something you complete in a couple of days!!?? :E Thanks again for all the advice!!!

I use sv cheats almost everytime i play it since ive beaten it over and over without em, now i can do stuff like practice on the CP's with the crossbar by bouncing it off as many walls as i can. but yeah u must go to new game and select "red letter day" and just start taht scene over without sv_cheats, the best part to start using ur cheats if u dont wanna reload is at ravenholm when u get the shotgun, cuz gregory wont continue unless u physically piick it up.

Quoted because it's true. Using the shotgun's double blast until reaching 0 and then standing over the shotgun he throws to you as you reload will get you to pick it up.

I remember having to do the same thing in RTCW, when it came to getting that silenced rifle that uses the same ammo as the MP40.
