While I'm playing Bioshock, it just freezes, and windows says it doesn't know the problem for it. When I go back and start the game again, it will only play for about three minutes, and it will freeze again. Why does it do this? I have 1900 MB of RAM.

Take your PC out of your fridge or igloo and resume as normal.

Oh christ Pulse, an internets from me to you.

What else is your computer composed of? CPU? graphics card?

Here's a picture of the stuff

So, what seems to be the problem officer? Do I need to reinstall Bioshock, maybe?

That isn't very insightful; we need you to post your key hardware specifications i.e. video card name & manufacturer, CPU type, sound card etc.

Ehh I'm not entirely sure with Vista, but the easiest way would to be to download this little application called Everest Home Edition; a simple bench marking tool that allows to generate a report of your computer's specs via a report wizard.

Once it's installed load it up and go to Report > Report Wizard and then select System Summary Only as the type of report you wish to make and make sure it's as text only.

Copy and paste that here and voila, we may be able to give you a better idea as to what to do next.

Im gunna have to say your graphics card might not be cutting it. 6100 is shit.

You can get that video card for less than 40 bucks.

www.newegg.com, or any local retailer if you cant wait for shipping.

As for what you should get, depends on your budget.

Why does Bioshock freeze?

...

BECAUSE YOU TOUCH YOURSELF AT NIGHT.

What other games do you play? Do you experience crashes when playing them?

Less spam please, just don't post if you can't help.

And Rar Jar whatever...you need to learn to stop double posting and spamming rubbish. Write proper posts, in proper english and edit your post if you wish to add more to it. Or your threads are going to start being removed.

Your graphics card is significantly no where near good enough to run Bioshock to a good degree. A good card to run Bioshock will cost you alot of money. You'll need to check the market, and if your motherboard supports the card (if you have the necessary slot on it) and if your PSU has a high enough wattage/voltage to run the card without killing / sapping your system. I'd not attempt to change this if you are not of technical knowledge or aptitude. You must realise Bioshock is a very demanding game to run, I bought a very powerful new laptop recently and it occasionally overheats with Bioshock after 30/40 minutes playing. Nothing is safe...

are you a agp or pcie?, probably the latter..

id say you set your sights at a 7600 to 7800 gs series..
for your processor to handle that is..

Why does Bioshock freeze?

Because it's a piece of programming shite.

(see thread "I give up")

I got the SOLUTION

Ok, So I have the solutions to almost everyones problem with the freezing bioshock...

The game can be run on lower graphic cards, such as ATI HD2400 with 125mb, but when the graphic gets intense, it can be a little difficult to control your weapons, though the game is very much acceptable to play.

The problem is the DirectX 10. It just requires so much more resources that it makes your game freeze. If you have Dx10 installed, you cant uninstall it and put Dx9. Running the game in DirectX 9, it wont freeze.

What you do is to create a shortcut to the .exe file of the game. Right click the short cut and select properties. In the target input box, dont erase anything. After the text, make a space and type in -dx9.
This will run your game with DirectX9.

Let me know if it worked for you.
Later I uppgraded my Videocard to 8800GT nVidia and the graphics are so much smoother.

Good luck.
