Why does gordon still have to wear that suit

Why does gordon still have to wear the HEV?
From what i've seen in the previews, city 17 doesnt look like a radioactive waste zone.
So why the suit?
 
Gordon's probably one of those guys who has nothing, but the same suit in their closets.
 
Without the HEV you would have no HUD! How would you tell how low your health is?

Yeah, it's not just protection against radiation, it's protection agaisnt everything dangerous...
 
It's been changed slightly tho....looks to offer improved mobility....all though Valve said the hieght of the player wont change and neither will his movement speed.....

I think it just looks more like valve wanted it to look originaly.


Notice in the lovely render of Gordon and Alyx her clothes are held together by duck tape or something. Perhaps they cant get hold of much so hes just wearing it because its the best thing around and there is nothing else to wear.
 
Maybe you get to skin an alien and put it on then hang around with other aliens terrorising the city?

Or not.
 
Even if he did take his suit of he would look stupid...it wouldnt be the same gordon
 
Whats wrong with the suit anyway? Its a cool suit. Id love one, it would let you get shot hundreds of times with no problem. If you fall from too high and break your leg, it just pumps in some morphine and your ok. Then you just walk up to something stuck to the wall and push a button, and magically you get your health back. Then you can charge your armour too, even if the suit is ripped to shreads you can still charge it up to brand new. With a special attachment you can jump masive distances. radiation doesnt have long term effects, you can do anything!

Not just that... the HEV suit became a symbol of HL and of Valve's crowning achievment.... and the HEV suit is a personicification of the average man's wish to protect himself from his enviroment, a sort of fantasy cacoon, so really the HEV suit becomes symbolic of isolationism and mankind's unwillingness to accept the consequences of his actions.... because whatever happens, nothing can break the illusion or 'suit'......

and yes I did get drunk and drink Shampoo (Radox i think) last night, so now you know what to blame...:p

So you think the HEV suit is a mataphysical symbol, representing the sweat, sinew and quiet agony of the human condition?

I think Gordon wouldn't be Gordon without the HEV suit, just like whithout his crowbar.

They should let him change clothes. I'm sick of seeing him wear the same thing all the time.

Darth Vader doesn't sleep, that's why he's always so cranky.

But I know what you mean, I'd like to see Gordon in one of those ostentatious purple Lagerfeld suits.

lol, you get to see EVERYTHING that Gordon sees. So thats why they put in all that realistic muscle movement technology. :naughty:
