Wii size comparisons.

I already knew it was approx. the size of 3 dvd cases but it's cool to compare it to other devices and random stuff out there.

To be honest, I wouldn't have minded it, if they made it as big as the ps3 or xbox 360, but to make up for it make it more powerfull. Atleast up the processor to 2 GHZ. The price could have stayed the same, seeing as it would use bigger cheaper parts.

That's pretty cool.

And as anyone who is interested in Wii will be reading this thread anyway, the front flap has been revealed. It's for SD cards. But that is one of two un-released media storage devices for the Wii. So we have SD cards, Internal HD, USB, Gamecube memory cards AND one more. :O

The first half of the pictures was very helpful for comparison. After a while though, it's like "OK, OK! We get it!" Lol

Looks so sleek. I love it.

Looks awesome. I am still a little apprehensive about buying one though over the PS3 or the 360.

Yeah, heh, it was useful until he started comparing it to Star Wars Pez dispensers and a Finding Nemo plushie.

I loved Kyle Katarn lol

Nintendo can't make the console as good as other consoles. Sony and Microsoft take a loss of the consoles. Microsoft lost 4 billion establishing a market.....Nintendo dosn't have that kind of money to toss around because all they are is a gaming market. If they take a loss on that they have no other way to make money.

So there being smart, while sony and microsoft are boxing.....Nintendo has created there own stage. There spicing up the stage with cool things that are attracting 3rd party developers(Remote). Then there offering cheap tickets to come and watch(low $ console\lower $ games). Then there offering the stage to the 3rd party developers for really cheap too($2,000 dev kits). Then for small time people there offering a online selling tool.

Nintendo!!! FTW!!!

Get a Wii and xxx. Truely believe that's what Nintendo is shooting for anyway.

I want to see it compared to an automobile and a tank.

Then... ran over repeatedly under the treads until the developers change the name.

Ill be getting 2 Wii consoles. One for my telly and one to fit into my 5.25" slot in my chassi. Why? Because its cool and useless!

Or as they say in Scotland ... "Ach, ayee ... a wee wii"

And on Nintendo WEEEEEEEEEEEEE, you can use the controller to wag my...

Finger.

I have been seriously considering becoming a developer for the Wii. For $2000 bucks I get the tools to create games for Wii! Everyone who has their Wii connected to the internet will be able to buy my game.

AWESOME :D

I already know what my first game would be, and I'll sell it for $1. That will be my game to learn to program on it. Then I will seriously improve it and sell it for $1 again (version 2) Then, I will be skilled enough to create my next game and I'll sell it for $1 again, version 2 will be $1 again.

So basically, if I sell 2000 downloads of my games, I have already paid for my development tool. So I'd have to hope for huge sales (successful games sell millions of copies)

There ya go! Hell I'd also love to look into a development kit.

well a dev. kit will just give you the tools to get it on the system. You still have to code an entire game engine, which is alot more difficult than it sounds.

The Wii is SOOO much better looking than the GC ever was. I am totally psyched for this one, esp. since the DS has been providing me with endless entertainment of late. Nintendo is doing everything right at the moment...:D

Coding, artwork... all sorts of stuff.

It would be awesome if the Wiimote also acted as a memory card, so if you wanted to play your save game at your friend's house, just bring your own Wiimote which has your game save.

We are aware of that dude. We are both programmers.

That depends what your game does. I won't exactly be making the next Grand Theft Auto. I'm thinking along the lines of fun, addictive, simple party games.

If it's fun, and becomes a popular download, then it will sell well. A game like Tetris is a good example of a game that is simple, yet extremely successful.

Yeah that'd be cool. Just plug in one end of the remote to the console memory card slot, and boom... there ya go. Maybe there will be enough room inside the remote that people can pop it open and make modifications to stick a memory card in there, and plug the gap up nicely.

Yes and since theres no 360 graphic compeition it wont be awfull to not have an engine that has every single mindblowing feature. Keep it simple ya know?
As Virus said, I would probably look into makeing a simple and addictive game. Maybe try a bunch of things with the wiimote and just mess around with it with some friends. Try and just make something that just hits the spot ya know?

You also have to get the OK from Nintendo to rent the devkits (most devkits are rentals only). You prolly wont have any luck getting a real dev kit if youre only 1 hobbyist. They did mention something about developing games to Virtual Console, though. I guess we have to wait and see.

Wii, ftmfw.

NOTE: This post may not contain any evidence of factual support for my opinion, nor does it benefit this thread in any way.

I like bigger consoles but size really doesnt matter.

Try telling that to Davo ... he spent 2 weeks in hospital whilst they tried to remove the original xbox from his ... you know where.

Maybe that's the last storage method they are going to announce? BEcause you are right, that would be awesome. As now taking memory cards from the GC is hard cause they are small. The same for SD cards. D:

Thats not as far fetched as one would believe. Miyamoto actually talked about the same thing. He wants everyone in the family to have their own personal Wiimote.

Tht would be great.

What colour remote would you guys want? What colour wii??

White Wii (to match my DSL) with assorted colors for controllers. White (probably with the system), black, blue, red.

I'll probably get a Black, if not White system. I'd like different coloured Wiimotes.

I dunno though, i might go to the extreme and get a different colour for a change.

White or black system with two white, two black 'motes.
That reminds me - back in the day, my friends and I used to trade halves of our pagers. For example, I had a white one, and a friend had a black one, you could take them apart and swap one half of the case, so that when you re-assemble them, each of us had a two-tone case.

I've done it with video game controllers before as well. It would be cool to have a Wiimote with a black bottom half and a white top half... at least to me it would.

To answer the question. I like the white one, but if they release a silver one, that would probably be my favorite. Second, I guess I like the blue one, since it looks like it will be more rare. I'm a bit tired of black plastic electronics.

oh right, I thought you were talking competitive commericial games. Well in that case yeah man, go for it! Heck I could probably code a little arcade game and put it on the virtual system....
