ok i have been looking stuff up and i have heard the $50 of the game is mp and sp. the collector's edition is mp,sp, cs:source, dod:source, hl:source

my question was if i get the $50 version of just sp and mp, will cs:source, dod:source and hl:source be downloadable or will i have to buy it?

i posted this on the steam forums and it was locked, because i was spreading rumors? all i want to know is will i beable to dl the other stuff? cause i don;t need a t-shirt and stuff like that, i just want the sources and hl2 sp and mp, but i don;t want to spend $30 extra just to get stuff i could dl.

Please do not flame me, i looked this up on these forums and could not find an answer to this. I did find what will be in the collector's edition, but this is not asking what is in it, i am asking if i can download cs:s, dod:s, hl:s, or do i have to buy them. That is all

Thanks

While VALVe hasn't given any specific figures, or answers, I believe the plan is to offer the other Source ports at a "bargain bin" price.

Searching is a pain on these forums.

I really don't think Valve knows what to do with DOD:S, HL:S, TF:S, and CS:S. I don't think they can charge the bargain price of $20 for each of them and not have a riot on their hands. I also don't think that Valve wants to give them away for free.

I believe they may try and charge $50 for all of the source conversions and hope that people will buy it because it included CS:S. But that is pure speculation. :(

Its been said that CS:S will be included in the regular version of HL2. To be completely honest, I dont even think they began work on DoD, TF and HL Source games yet. I would rather have HL2 by September and wait to buy the rest then wait for them to convert the other source game to be put into the CE.

so, i should just get the $50 of hl2 and go from there?

while nothing has been confirmed...they could include the source ports in the CE version of the game.. nobody really knows tho.

My guess is that all the games will be available with the collector's edition, which will be priced at about 60 or 70 bucks. The individual games will also be available on steam for like 8 bucks each.

That's my theory at least.

chances are there are gonna look like something like this.

standard : hl2 + mp + cs:s
Single player only
and CE: hl2+ mp+ cs:s+ hl:s and some collectable crap..

no other old valve games have been worked on to be ported over as of yet.
the people who have bought the CE will get the new conversions free when the come out..

other epople may have to pay 10 bucks if they have the standard hl 2 stuffs
and if you just want lets say DOD:s and nothing else then it will be priced i m guessing around 15 - 20 bucks..

however.. right now i would suggest jstu get the standard cause the DOD:S and TF:s arent' worth the waiting cause there are better games out there...

also TF2 may be HL 2's MP so TF:s won't be worth it then.

I hope that all comes with the ce that's all i know! lol

HL:S has been done for quite some time. It was the first to be converted.
TF:S was announced to be ported to the source engine already, but the reason we didn't hear about TF2 during its development is because it was remade on the Source engine, and HL2 wasn't even annouced yet; thus they had to keep their mouths shut.
DoD:S is definately being worked on and I think has been in development for about a year, considering the SDK has been open to private mod makers for a little longer then that.

The first of this is definitely not true, as another poster pointed out. DOD:S seems to be the one that will come months after HL2's release, I'm guessing because it has major gameplay improvements.

Second, I don't think valve has said anything whatsoever about pricing of the ports except 'free with hl2...maybe, we don't know yet'.

BTW, here's some bonus heresy for the kids: half-life 1 should be totally redone on the Doom3 engine. Seriously. Unlike hl2, hl1 doesn't require fancy physics.
