Aftermath isn't out yet, so we can only speculate its outcome and whether or not you'll still be working for the G-man in Half-Life 3. I hope not, it seems a bit redundant IMO. Personally, I want you to rebel against the G-man. Maybe another higher being takes an interest in you and gives you the ability to fight the Gman (not kill him, cause that would be uncool, but escape his influence). Then maybe he grants you freedom in exchange for doing a task for him, as opposed to working for the gman with no return on your efforts. I want HL3 to take a radically different direction, so I'm like "whoa!, I wasn't expecting that".

Can someone explain to me, how are you working for the Gman in hl1+2 ?

I know hes constantly in both of the games and then at the end of Hl2 he's there and talks to u n stuff........but are you actully working for him? I thought he might be putting you into those situations n stuff, im not really sure, can someone explain it.

Thanks

The g-man recruits you at the end of HL1 (you can choose service or death). In HL2 he drops you off at C17 trainstation to help kick-start a rebelion.

Why everybody wants to rebel or fight him? Am I the only one here who wants to continue to serve to G-Man? His mystic behaviour, difficult speech (For example, "The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world) attracts me in some way. I want to continue to work for him, to know him better. What does he want, why does he want that.

And what would you do once free? Roam in the wastelands? Become a mercenary? A freelance researcher? If so, what would you research, with most of Earth destroyed?

Half-Life 1 managed to give me the feeling of "Wtf?". And Half-Life 2 too has also caught me off-guard throwing me off in a totally new environment and enemies. I'm more than certain that Half-Life 3 will be able to save this, even if you continue serving G-Man.

Agreed, I love the G-Man, and hell, you don't age in stasis, so, everlasting 'youth'!

Well I just think that HL1 didnt really have any story, nothing interesting. Just a G-man thats more interesting. Why cant we lay off teh G-man. We, ourselves wont get the right answer before half -life 3, 4 n anything else they throw at us. BTW, when sohuld we expect a Hlaf-life 3, not aftermath or anything? in another 7 years?

Without the G-Man Half-Life's story would have been run of the mill, with the G-Man it's intriguing. Well, as well as other factors like the Nihilanth actually being a slave to some unknown force.

I think you should replay HL1. And don't shoot Barneys and/or scientists before they end their speech, too. :hmph:

(the G-Man) attracts me in some way

Immunity and G-Man, sitting in a tree... :upstare:

Ahem. Who knows? It seems pretty likely that at the end of HL2, the G-Man hands you over to a new employer.

 <-- Only the middle finger instead of the thumb, *cough*.

I love the whole "mysteriousness" behind the Gman, i love it when u see him while playing the game, but u can never get to him lol

I imagine at one point Gordon WOULD break free of the G-Man's influence in some way or another. Certainly not by killing him (surely!?), as it would completely undermine his enigmatic, calm and untouchable nature. Even escaping him would do that to an extent. Perhaps the G-Man "lets him go" after Gordon fulfills his usefullness or something.

No, Gordon should be freed by someone who has power equal to the G-Man (not Gordon though). Then G-man's like: wtf?, time for some kung fu fighting!. Anyway, if not in HL3 (I still hope it is), then Gordon has to EVENTUALLY break free of the Gman, its the only way:borg:

No, it's not. Then you'd prolly like to break free from the one who helped you "escape the clutches" of G-Man. And so on and on... Me, I'd like to serve G-Man to the end and see who is he. The easy way.

Lets all bow down and praise the 'G' ..... Well no matter what i shall continue working for him, even if Valve for some obscure reason remove you from his clutches i shall still be working for him on covert missions in my mind .. now if you'll exscuse me i need to go plan a plot to take over the world :imu:
