Would the Combine want Humans in their Empire?:cheers:

I already know that the Combine are assimilating are way of war and are technology. But are the Combines assimilating Human culture or at least Human Western culture (Sense Human Western culture is the dominant in Earth) or even Human nature? Or even studying are History? (To bettor understand us.)

I am assuming the Combine assimilated little of Human culture, but not all of it, and I think almost no Human nature. I say a little of Human culture because look at the uniforms and way of war, that the Combine Humans are wearing uniforms. But European and American style, but not alien or any other. Also the fact that the Civil protection AKA Axillaries are pure Humans… And another point, if they did not assimilate any of Human culture, then the Combine solders would look just like the Borgs or some thing in that nature.

I mean look haw the uniform is design, I think it looks cool…

The Combine isn’t interested in our culture, skin colour or what nationality you are. You are a human, and therefore suitable for assimilation, that’s all they care about. The Overwatch, as the forces on Earth are called, are still undergoing changes. For instance, underneath the human looking armour (which for the record, is not picked with a certain style, its merely designed to be good in combat) the soldiers do look like the borg, pretty much. See, I'm sure the armour looks human because our wonderful human liaison, Wally Breen designed them with Combine technology in mind.

The Combine aren't interested in our culture, and don't need to go out of their way to wipe it out. The increased presence of alien buildings and structures is already devouring whatever is left of it. Hell, they've had two decades to do it - and whatever is left of Earth has been left to the Xenian hordes.

They adapt everything to fit with their own style, absorb it until only by its function do you recognize it. Most humans will be turned into Stalkers, immortal slaves (immortal as in, never age), and serve them forever - same goes for the Overwatch. They've come for Earth, its resources, its populace and if Breen holds his promise - local teleportation technology.

Because one of my point was, they are using uniforms, they do not go out there nude and having armor plates under their chest or any thing like that. And in top of that, they are not using alien uniforms but the styles I described earlier. Also the Civil protection and or Axillaries are full Humans…

The Reason I ask about culture is because most Empires in Human history assimilated other cultures (at least influence one and a nether). And if you notices the Empires that do that most are the ones that rule for a long time…
Just look at the Romans, they assimilated not just in new technology but cultures as well!

I think your thinking along historical lines too much. The Overwatch aren't completely assimilated into the Combine ranks yet, and not until Earth is completely devoured will they be.

Xenian hordes are things such as antlions, bullsquids and Gargs, which roam the Earth. Apart from a few Combine controlled cities, the rest of the Earth is a desolate wasteland. Local teleportation technology is teleporting from one place to another in a close area. The Combine possess powerful teleportation technology, but it takes a great deal of time for it to charge, and consumes massive amounts of energy as it does so. And they can only use it to travel from one universe to another, rather than from planet to planet, or dot to dot. Humans, or rather, Black Mesa scientists have mastered this practice by using Xen as a slingshot, and the Combine want that technology because it will aid greatly in their future wars.
Devouring as in, taking our resources, absorbing our populace for their own needs.

Breen’s office is the way it is, because Breen is exactly that, a human. He lives there day in, day out. I don't think he'd be too keen on turning from wall to wall and seeing nothing but bland metal. Its his home.

For two decades the Combine controlled Earth with little bother. They had no trouble until Freeman turned up and started causing problems. People believed in Gordon after Black Mesa, he was a free man on an alien controlled planet and was by all means an unstoppable force.

The Overwatch wear that armour because they are humans. It works well, it looks menacing and the Combine probably don't have any form of alien uniform that fits us humans.
Civil protection (metrocops) are another thing entirely. They are volunteer humans who patrol the streets and maintain order so that they can benefit from better living conditions.

I think your missing the point of HL a little here. Its not about historical value. You see, things change as time goes on - we aren't the same human race we were 400 years ago. Were not the Romans anymore, who only managed to conquer most of Europe. Yeah, a brilliant feat in those days (as well as aiding in hygiene), but were talking about an alien race here. The Combine has managed to conquer, enslave and absorb countless planets within countless galaxies. Countless races.

They defeated Earth in 7 hours. They suppressed our ability to breed, so the remaining humans on the planet are the only humans around. There won't be anymore. Two decades on from when they arrived, they've still had no interest in culture. Strip the planet bare of its resources. Convert its populace.

The only references to history being in Breen’s speech, when he talks about extinction and the future of the species. Its not something the Combine have much care for.

I did not say all cultures or every thing of it, just what they need out of it. The Romans adopts or assimilated what they wanted or took what was good out of it (Yes the Romans do have their own culture).

Well some times that’s how you build a “Universal Union,” what do you think the Combines are doing, fighting, just like we Humans are doing. That pacific Combine faction probably conquered their own world be for they got to the other worlds, they built a “Universal Union.” Think how are world would be like, if the Axis conquered? They mite be doing what the Combines are doing (more or less), if in fact the third Reich did conquer and did last for a thousand years (trying to make a point).
In history people united by Conquering, diplomacy, or other ways, but the “Universal Union” will never be perfect.

As for the styles of uniforms just look at the modern US. infantry and camper the German infantry, they look alike in the equipment style and the helmets…(there is a difference between assimilating, adopting, and copying). One of my family members is a U.S. army officer, he say that they call their helmets German helmets or German style…

Styles of uniforms are adopt from some were, ether of how well it works in the battle field in this case, or other reasons… Napoleon adopted lots of Roman stuff in his Empire, and the people in India had Islamic armor style and little European armor style… One of my point is, one way or the other, they still adopted it from some were…

The Combine have been described as a race that grew too dependant on their own technology and began to rely on it to survive. Its science fiction. Your looking too much at history, and thats not what its based upon.

I fine our history very, very interesting, so many different things in it, and different ways how Empires rise and fall…

I think the way the Combine Empire will fall, is they will be too big to govern if they keep conquering with out a rest…

Well, I think it depends on how much control they have over wielding it. I mean, teleporting is a whole different league to destroying a planet. They have teleporters that travel from universe to universe, but they fail completely in their attempts to teleport from one location to another on a small planet.

Destabilise it and wham. imo they probably have super-weapons much stronger than nukes even if we haven't seen them use one, they are pretty advanced and making something explode is a lot easier than e.g. making a stable reactor strong enough to power their form of inter-dimensional travel.

And I'm sure the Combine do have space travel Samon, at least intra-stellar. Their teleportation is too limited for them not to have it in order to fully exploit the resources of systems.
I agree it probably isn't a big thing for them though, or used much in warfare.

I agree to the extent that they have spaceships. But I believe that their space program is not some afterthought, but one of their main conerns.

Think about it - any universe that can hold one life bearing planet most likely holds others (probability dictates this).

To compensate for the lack of local teleport, they would have built MASSIVE starships to carry Striders and what-not to colonise lifeless planets or subjugate other races.

After BMRF was built, mankind didn't just abandon their space programme (For all their teleportal prowess they had to use a rocket to set up a satellite).

There is no evidence that anyone has FTL technology in the Half-life universe (or that it's possible) except for local teleportation technology. So it's a bit of a jump to assume that the Combine have inter-planetary starships.

I think they probably do control multiple planets per universe, but get to each one by teleporting from a seperate universe.

I didn't mean starships Halo style. I'm thinking very large vehicles powered by conventional engines. Jumping from one universe to the next is good for an invasion, but I think that starships are essential if two worlds in the same universe want to keep contact or move resources.

The Combine race is supposed to have crossed it's singularity (RtB), a race that is so far ahead is bound to have a way to travel between solar-systems, esp. since they are draining resources off hundreds of worlds, and can easily afford it.

At least one of the hundreds of civilizations under the UU is bound to have starships, and the Combine never fail to adapt good technology to their needs.
