Hey guys, long time lurker.

A while back, I saw a post here about the 7 hour war, and one of the posts inside linked to a site that had a very detailed description and timeline of what happened during those hours.

I searched here, to no avail. Would anyone recall what the link to that site was? Or if a site like that even exists?
Thanks!

It was a site with the timeline of events during HL1 and HL2...
Not the 7 hour war. Unless i missed something big.

We dont use it. Know why?
Because if its the link i think you what, very important parts of it are wrong

7-hour war timeline:
Combine invade
Humans get asses handed to them
Breen saves humanity by surendering.

This timelime mentioned things like where the first citadel appeared, mankind's attempts to use nuclear weapons (and their dismal failure), breens offer of surrender and other things that I cant recall.

Llama: What site would that be? It could be totally 100% made up on someone's whim for all I know, but I know it was there and at least made SOME sense.

I think thats the timeline refered to, sorry if it isn't
It does contain some accurate material, but a lot (Like the City 17 Citadel being the only Citadel, and the Combine invading Xen) is indeed wrong

It was. There are no concrete dates in the HL universe, and the guy proceeds to pull them out of his ass. In addition, he makes assertions about the plot that Valve have said are wrong. And then he has the gall to misquote Laidlaw to try and give his site more backing.

While also refusing to update it even though several members have informed him of his mistakes...what a dick he is :E

It kind of feels weird, doesn't it... fighting against Breen when he "saved" the human race.

not really - Breen "saved" then from death and gave them torture, starvation and fear. I would rather fight for freedom and die than live a prisoner. Breen isnt evil, per se, he is just doing what he thinks is right - Even though it evidently isnt

No, not really.

As Llama said, yes I would too, but if Breen hadn't surrendered, Half-Life 2 wouldn't exist, Gordon's existance would be pointless. At least it gave the G-Man an opportunity to bring Gordon out of stasis and fight the Combine more effectively.

Sure, he's an evil little guy, but we gotta give him some credit.

Breen's cool. And I still think that because his mind was open to the bigger picture, he genuinely thought he was doing some good.

Remember the ancient (and probably now defunct) Valve quote? To the effect that one side is wrong, but the other is really wrong? I reckon that'll come back to haunt us all.

Yes, he does really does believe he is doing the good thing, and Gordon is preventing any progress. However, it's either Gordon & co. or him :(

How would Gordons existence be pointless? Gman would have easily found some other contract to fill.

So, Breen surrendered Earth and saved us all. Yup, yup he did. But at what cost? Half of the already depressingly low populace has been converted into something less than human, and everyone else is living in terror.

It was either death, or it was something worse than death (Had the Combine succeeded). Breen would have been in a nice position, had Gordon not turned up. The rest of the planet wouldn't be. Yes, he did save us...but I'm sure those Stalkers would have liked it best did he not surrender us at all.

Breen did save humanity. The stalkers were anticitizens that threatened other citizens and the earth itself. THey deserved what they got.

Threatened Earth? Earth as in that big, festering wasteland filled with all manner of uncontrollable alien wildlife and ravaged by portal storms - not to mention its resources being plucked away. That Earth?

Anti citizens deserve what they get? Hardly :P. They are people who are rising up against the oppressor, and why not? In the end, it doesn't matter whether you rebelled or didn't - they'd have converted the entire race into Stalkers by then anyway.

Or not. You would never know :P
