A cooler concept than summoning, you can't find it

Frankly, you can't. It is cool. Summoning shit. It doesn't matter where you summon it from, it is awesome. Who did you play as when you first played diablo 2? Necromancer, because he summons skeletons. If you said paladin you are gay freako and don't count.

My HL2.net Wiki page shows how "Cool" it is to be summoned. (Frankly, I get tired of warlocks needing me to raze towns.)

Summoning corpses is a cool concept. But I could never get into Diablo. Just not my game.

Oh, and a cooler concept- Infestation. Whether it be by zerg, headcrabs, xenomorph aliens, the thing, or just classic zombies, infestation is an awesome concept.

Being a Necro in D2 was cool until they nerfed the Blood Golem / Iron Maiden combo. After that they sucked.

Summoning in general is handled very poorly in most games, the summoner is usually a push over in combat, and their minions are either too strong and are just unfair or they're so underpowered it's pointless to even bother raising/training them.

I usually just play support roles now-a-days when I play RPG games, becuase despite summoning being awesome and all, it's usually garbage.

Summoning's such a power fantasy. It's the control, being the person in charge and ordering about others to do your bidding. You're a mortal man, with all of man's weaknesses and frailties, yet you can call forth mighty beasts who must submit to your every whim.

Want to do battle with foes equal or mightier than you? Why, just summon a creature to do it for you. And if the foe is lesser than you are, summon anyway, because they clearly aren't worth your time or effort.

Need to know something that is beyond your realm of knowledge? Summon a spectre to scry for you, or summon a demon from the lower planes to impart their knowledge.

Find yourself a major player battling for the fate of the world using a children's card game? F*ck their shit, Red Eyes Black Dragon.

Summoning's also the great, "Sit back and let everything take care of itself" way of doing things. I used to roll 'lock in WoW and mastermind in CoV, and I'd just let my minions handle it.

Necromancers have never really been that good in Diablo II. They were decent early on when their skeleton armies made great meat shields for other players, and I think at one point their golems were completely overpowered, but overall there's not much incentive for playing as them. Even the "cool factor" doesn't make up for being the laughing stock of any party.

But Summoning (the band) is pretty cool

Frankly, Necromancers have been buffed since you last played. There are plenty of top notch summon players who use revives, auras, and curses with great effectiveness. I've seen videos of them solo'ing Uber Tristram. It's one of the most fun classes to play.

Naked summoners are equally as (but not more than) awesome as summoning.

That doesn't make sense though...because a naked summoner IS summoning.

Therefore summoning = cool concept
Summoning naked = cool concept x2

The summoner herself is as equally awesome as summoning. Whether or not she is currently summoning is irrelevant.

But if she IS summoning, then it's like multiplying awesomeness. A naked summoner is just another naked woman. A naked woman summoning means she's performing the act.

So if being a naked summoner (just having the power to summon) is a cool concept, and summoning (the act of) is a cool concept, putting the two together is a cool concept x2.
