A question for Munners

Oh Great One who blesses us mortals with His pointy hair, how much does running this site cost? Paying for bandwidth, vBulletin and anything else? I'm just wondering.

To be honest there's not many costs involved with running this site as thankfully Valve paid for a dedicated hosting server through Limelight Networks for us. I have two owned licenses for vBulletin I use for Halflife2.net and we only have to pay $30 a year to update them (which I have to do today actually). Apart from the odd website jobs, domain renewels, and gaming servers there's not much we need to worry about.

If you're thinking of setting up your own site be warned the hosting is the most expensive part of running a site. If it weren't for Valve we would be spending about ?700 a month for a server, something we could never afford even with adverts.

Valve are truly superb to us, although we are extremely thankful for their hosting, they are even more appreciative of the work and support we provide for the community. That is something the entire community provides as a group. Valve know how to look after their fanbase, that is a fact!
