Advanced Facial Animation technology

i think face mocap costs like 50 pounds a second to record, so this would be a very very handy way of doing face mocap in future ... yeey for technology : )

Yeah I saw another article of CGSociety yesterday on this. Theyve got another video on it and some words about it that i didnt read. http://features.cgsociety.org/story_custom.php?story_id=4480

Seems pretty cool, but they still need to work on getting the wrinkles and bumps that are formed by the eyebrows and the laugh lines. That area still looks weird.

You can see here that its not even close.

I jumped out of my chair when she screamed! Was way too loud. :(

Yeah, I think my roomate was kinda startled when that happened.

Yeah that scream was waaaay too loud.

But wow, that's crazy awesome!

Definately cool. A nice step, but yeah, still needs to be worked on.

The main problem is a lack of movement in the cheeks and forehead.

It's very easy for somebody to overhear this and construe it as porn.

I agree, it was very well done, exept for the creases formed while someone smiles/frowns/grins.

but add Valve's face creases and this facial expressions? pure awesome.

Didnt expect the scream either D:

Still pretty awesome, add some wrinkles and it would be perfect :O

I (think? I) saw a screencap of the geometry mesh it overlays on the subjects face, and it's pretty detailed: I think the limitation of creases/etc lies more in the 3D model.

No, that model was definately high enough resolution to get that detail. Especially the laugh lines. Those are easy to get even in a low res model.
