AI Infected

Did Valve patch L4D2 to have AI infected spawn if there are not four people available or am I just coming across a lot of modded servers?

Well I figured this would come with more fanfare. It's long overdue. Shaving a few seconds off the spawn timer does not at all compensate for the lack of another person. It doesn't seem to work on the same 20 second timer either, but I think thats ok. The one thing I don't understand about it is why it doesn't follow the same class spawning rules. You could easily have two smokers or chargers or anything. I won't complain though... I'd rather have something than nothing following random rage quits.
