Those wily mod-makers! Will they ever learn? First, it's breast-showing mods leading to ratings changes, now Reuters reports that Islamists are modifying Battlefield 2 to have players gun down U.S. troops.
Sure, it's shocking to Americans, but it shouldn't be. Evil is relative -- when our modmakers and game developers pit Chinese and Middle Easterners as "popular" villains in our games -- should we really be surprised to see Americans portrayed as villains in countries where our presence might be unwanted? Is it okay to point the gun at them and balk when the sight is lowered against us?

Tech-savvy militants from al Qaeda and other groups have modified video war games so that U.S. troops play the role of bad guys in running gunfights against heavily armed Islamic radical heroes, Defense Department official and contractors told Congress.

The games appear on militant Web sites, where youths as young as 7 can play at being troop-killing urban guerillas after registering with the site's sponsors.

hmmm as young as seven huh? how did they come to that number? is age 7 the minimum needed to register or did they go out and ask 7 year olds?

no, the article is not fake ..yahoo/reuters are reporting what intelligence officials gave them. The video may not be authentic but according to them it was posted on a jihadist website, and they seemed to think it important enough if they took it to the Department of defense and committees on Intelligence

ok lets get this straight ..it's not fake ..according to the department of defense militants use video games (their proof being the video) to push anti-us hate. They're saying that the video is proof that militants have modded BF2 to make it a tool for anti-us propaganda, not realising that the video in question is actually an american fan made movie

if anything it's a mistake by the Department of Defense for not looking into the origin of the video. Sloppy research on their part, or intentional propaganda

I don't think the department of defense used that video, that was seperate part of the article and the writers own doing. I don't doubt the department of defense told congress about game modifications being used to push anti-us hate though, because it does happen.

CIA? no seriously ...osama is from a very rich family (does business with bush family), he was a playboy in the 70's and had business contacts all over the world ..I'm sure there's still people sympathetic to his cause/plight that funnel him cash ..plus there's organizations that fund raise (obviously not openly)

not too mention that afghanistan was flooded with weapons in the 80's and 90's and the US didnt bother to secure saddam's weapons after invading iraq (including dangerous virii that was looted from the universities and hospitals during the invasion) so there's more than enough munitions to go around

Days were gone where parents and teachers worked together to help children behave properly, this has to stop, the parents always thinks that video games caused violence because they think it is the easiest way to hide their truth for not taking good care of children and teach them to behave well.
