I think the difference is very, very obvious.

In OP4 it is used to solve a puzzel and in HL some soldiers drop you into it like some stupid bond movie and for some reason you're able to control it just by standing on top of it?

The sarcasm doesn't work. The difference being that the one in Half-life is a plausible trash compactor. The one in Opposing force is ever so clearly a Star wars replica, in some dank sewage place (and looks crap to boot) where the Pit Worm thankfully managed to teleport perfectly in.

I think it's the perfect time ro re-introduce Shephard , this time of course w\o a mask.

He can just pop out with the help of the G-man while keeping his intentions mysterious and by that keep the question if the G-man is good or a bad guy , in the air.

Plus , having another character can't be bad and I think if they gonna defeat the combine on all the fronts , they need all the help they can get.

All the help they can get? Adrian is the fail-safe. As long as Gordon survives, there's no point in bringing him out (unless it is to bring Gordon back into the control of the G-Man.)

I highly doubt that even if you do play as Shepard in Portal, that the incidental acronym of the weapon title has anything to do with it. Sure, there was a portal gun in Opposing Force, and the one in Portal could have been modified by combine technology, but surely the G-Man would place him someplace other than a testing facility.

Speaking of The Shephard, I remember this one time when Samon was like totally hitting on this girl, and then outta nowhere Adrian shows up, flexes his muscles, and just like that the girl totally ignored Samon and walked off with Adrian. That makes absolutely no sense :|. Doomguy would not fit better into the next Half-Life, that's a horrible example. You could've just said Gina or whatever the other chick's name was in Decay. No, you use a character from an entirely different game universe.

The most likely character for Portal is at the moment Shephard. That likeliness is what, 10%? The other 90% is its an original character. Possibly a rebel or a regular civilian. Everyone needs to shut up about the entire thing. Just wait till Valve announces who the goddamn character is :|.
