Dude, you've fallen into the classic mode of laying down emotional crashmats to nosedive into to ward off rejection. Seriously put it down to experience and move on.
Romantic love is a myth, there is no perfect one person out there who will fit you like a glove eternally. People like the notion of it, because it uncomplicates things for them emotionally. The truth is that feelings and people are in constant flux and it is a rocky rollercoaster ride.
Men and women can be just good friends....in soap operas, comedy shows and films. In reality the only time men and women get along platonically is if they have a mutual interest in a subject that goes beyond a sexual attraction, cars, mountaineering, ball room dancing etc etc.
