Badger's emotional thread 1: Damn girl

Actually, for ages I was mates with her not becuase I fancied her, but becuase she was nice to me etc. Oh, and I wouldn't mind if she got a bf... I'd be happy that she's happy, and on my part it wasn't an advance... it was getting something off my chest, I even said that I didn't want to be more than mates...

Dude, you've fallen into the classic mode of laying down emotional crashmats to nosedive into to ward off rejection. Seriously put it down to experience and move on.

Romantic love is a myth, there is no perfect one person out there who will fit you like a glove eternally. People like the notion of it, because it uncomplicates things for them emotionally. The truth is that feelings and people are in constant flux and it is a rocky rollercoaster ride.

Men and women can be just good friends....in soap operas, comedy shows and films. In reality the only time men and women get along platonically is if they have a mutual interest in a subject that goes beyond a sexual attraction, cars, mountaineering, ball room dancing etc etc.

Eh? Why does everyone seem to think I tried for her... I explicitly told her that I didn't want anything to change, I just had feelings for her, and I love her as a mate, and would never want to be more than that... although I wish I'd tried.

Anyway, a lot of my friends, ones who know us both well think that we have a future, and that we'd be great together, but no-one knows how she feels on the matter :P

Your friends will never tell you bad news, because they don't want to hurt your feelings.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Kadayi.

Just go up and tell her...that simple. If she says "were friends in all but..." just go on with another girl.

I still recommend listening to your heart.

You say you really want her, but at the same time you told her you just wanted to be her mate? What's that all about?

Do you want her or not? You say you've been thinking about it for 4 months, but what was your conclusion? Was it that you'd just tell it to her at a random moment, to get it off your chest?
Was that the solution to your problem? Is that what you really want, just to be mates? Or not? What was your conclusion after these 4 months?

Dude, when I was a romantic I spent probably 50% of my time being miserable moping after various women and the other 50% of my time worrying that I was going to loose the ones I was seeing :dozey:

Eventually you wake up and smell the roses. Life it far too short to do either, it's better to just deal with things there and then and move on and accept that life throws you curve balls occasionally to keep you on your toes.

As regards the issue about women as friends, that's not a negative comment. I'm just highlighting that what fiction shows us isn't necessarily true.

If you haven't heard anything from her in 2 days then walk away. I when I say walk away, I mean from the friendship also, just write her out of your life as a past chapter. If you've declared your feelings and she hasn't responded similarly then don't put yourself through any further emotional distress. Put it down to experience and move on. That probably sounds cold and callous, but I speak from experience here. It is a waste of time to hanker after women who aren't interested, because it is emotionally draining, and will eat away at your self esteem.

Bad, bad advice. 2 days?? Kadayi , I know you mean well, but no need to disappoint the guy for no reason.

I tried a similar test with my girl, guess how long it took - 1.5 weeks. Just chill out, sit there, and wait for the phone call, OK?

Ugh this turned into a metrosexual thread. I'm getting out of here!!

Well badger, I have told my best friend that I had feelings for her, and told her I didn't say anything for awhile because I didn't want to mess up our friendship and such. So now we are just really really good friends, she is still my best friend, and we talk like everyday, worked out for me.

If she does care, she will make the move, thats my point. But if you linger around then she will sweep it under the carpet and you'll never get an answer from her. Uncertainty is an evil thing, it weighs and preys upon you. All I'm saying is make your own certainty through your actions.

You do have a point, but the thing is, I'm not going to just break off my friendship with her... she's too good a mate. Oh, and that comment about men and women not being able to be friends? Sorry, but thats not true, I have lots of female friends who I share no interest with, and don't find them sexually attractive.

And I'm just gonna sit around for a while, and see how it goes, if not I'll move on, I can do that... it's just I told her I'd never want to be more than friends... and when I said that she didn't seem too happy :(

:P No, but funnily enough, she does look kinda like that :)

Today was real nice, I'm going to talk to her about this, I'll let you know how it goes :D

We were just, well, really close all of today, as in 'couple' close... and well, we aren't going out or anything, but that doesn't matter to me, as long as we are that close, hugging and touching etc... Hopefully will be something more, but she ain't rejected me :) ... well, you lot can think what you will, be there is something there, we both feel it...

awwwwwww congrats mate, its been a long hard journey but you made it in the end, you deserve it. Now if you don't mind I'd lke you to sign this piece of paper allowing me to make a slushy romance movie based on your reports on this forum and earn myself a few million ;);)

I wonder what Kadayi has to say about it lol

Just read the whole thread...
/me is so happy on bagders behalf :)

I have a few things to say tome some guys in here though

My version of beiing a couple:
You are together because you like the company of the other one(freinds) and you show your affection towards the person by doing....what couples do :)
So in a sense you are friends :)

Oh and, im no love expert, but even if it's myth, that no couple can live in peace and harmony forever, i feel that as long as you are happy swith the person for the amount of time, you are happy with her, i think that you should be happy for the time you had together, and not be all sad about loosing someone! :)

Heh, thanks guys... :P I doubt there will be a wedding :P

Anyway :) cheers.. I love my life at the mo :cheese:

And Tony, go back to messing up my AS Physics practicals mate :P

Well you'd have to be charlie Sheen of course. I'd opt for Jake Gyllenhaal for MrBadger, or possibly Tobey Maguire.

course now he has to delete all these posts about her before she ends up finding them ;)

i want to be at the wedding! i'll be a brides maid, the most important one, in fact i'll be the bride! ;) mrbadger wont mind if i just "replace" her.
