Characters in Aftermath

I have, since Aftermath was announced, been wondering what friendly characters that will be included in the game.

1. Will all our friends, except obvious Alyx, be a part of the actuall gameplay? I referr to Eli, Kleiner, Barney, Dog and Judith.

2. Do anyone of you think that Dr Breen by any chance survived the explosion, being covered in his field of deadly particles? Is there any chance that he could still be alive somewhere?

3. And, as a result of the damage Gordon and Alyx made to The Citadel, The Combines most precious installment on earth, will they send new, powerful enemys to earth? And if so, what are your ideas of their appearances?

4. And, finally, what alien is it that appear on Dr Breens screen in the beggining of HL2 and in the end? The Combine leader?

I'll be happy to read out your great ideas and conceptions!

1) Dog indeed, he is in the Aftermath trailer. I hope that we see Barney, but Mossman along with Breen was in the Citadel, as was Eli. So I'd imagine that if Gordon and Alyx survived, so did they. Kleiner more than likely was safe in his lab, we can't be sure if the path will lead back to him.

2) Perhaps the dear doctor was sent to an alternatice dimesion thanks to Gordon pummeling the transporter, or maybe he is in a kind of slow teleport, like Gordon and Alyx after Nova Prospekt.

3) As to this I have no idea. It is confirmed that Gordon and Alyx are being hunted by Stalkers, but I'd think that destroying the Citadel has the Combine temporarily dazed.

4) A combine advisor I believe, there to make sure Breen is doing his job, and to receive reports on the oppresion of Earth citizens and mining of their resources.

But really we'll just have to suck it and see.

Eli, Alyx, Kleiner and Dog: Yes, definately, without a trace of doubt.
Mossman: Very, very likely, almost certain, unless a piece of ceiling fell on her she is just as safe as Eli.
Barney: He might just as well be alright as much as me may be dead, but I'm bettin he made it.
Breen: No idea. Hope so.

Well, Eli was in the video so I'm sure he's in Aftermath. And because Mossman most likely helped him out because Eli's crippled shes alive and in Aftermath. As for Barney, I think Laidlaw took him from Blue Shift for a reason and could be important in Aftermath or later games. And Cormeh, where didyou hear that there being hunted by Stalkers? And if they are, BRING IT ON!

Barney is in. I've a screen of him very much alive within City 17. It was in the free book you got with PC ZONE UK, the Call of duty 2 one.

Breen wasn't actually in the explosion, and was quite far underneath it. Alot of people missed this but hey. So yeah, I think its certain.

Eli was in the trailer, so he'll be there. Kleiner has already been confirmed to be in there, and I'm sure Mossman will play a big part - as well as Dog, who we've seen already.

The Combine probably won't be sending in anything new, because we've just destroyed their tunnelling entanglement system which allows them to come to Earth. And we've just blown up the portal.

What is going to be interesting is the continued interaction between Alyx and Mossman. Sure, Mossman redeemed herself by betraying Breen, but she still can't be trusted. But yeah, aside from Breen, it looks like almost every character in HL2 will return in Aftermath.

As far as the Combine sending anything new into Earth, I thought Mossman said "the combine can tunnel in through their own Universe, but once they're here, they're reliant on local transportation." So, the Combine will try to send more forces in, but the invasion will be disorganized because they don't have access to Entanglement anymore. Or they might just ignore Earth altogether, except Gordon who has proven his worth.

Aftermath is also has a focus on "character interaction." So, I'm sure we will learn much more about the story this time around.

Yes, tunnel through. Thats the only way they can get here. She was talking about Eli's tech compared to the Combines. They will not be able to send anything through without the tunnelling entanglement system because Breen didn't manage to get back to them to leak the technology.

Okay, trying to make sure I fully understand this. Are you saying that the Combine won't be able to send in anything at all to Earth, or just not directly into City 17 (which is what I was thinking).

Well unless they only had a teleportor at the City17 Citadel, they can still send shit through the other ones. But because this one focuses on getting out of City17, your just fighting the shit thats already there.

It all depends on how the other Citadels are built.

Well, I guess they would have to depend on the other Citadels' teleports. They couldn't have "tunnelled through" without the portal storms during the 7 hour war, and those shouldn't be making an appearance in Aftermath.
