Combine Overlord

This is my first thread so please done flame me if I didnt something wrong (I couldnt acces the rules for some reason)

anyway, I was just wondering. In the last level of the game you see breen talking to this big, almost strider looking guy, asking for more combine. I'm pretty sure this is the combine Overlord or leader. but why doesnt he look like the rest of them, and why is he taking orders from breen.

I know my computer didn't have a good enough GFX card but did you get to see Breen's eyes or hear how he seemed to be pleading to the overlord? In frustration he was ordering one who he shouldn't...

Just a note: Most people on these boards have heard most topics soruonding HL2 so many times that they sometimes just want to trotter off to Off Topic, so the the use of the search function is helpfull sometimes...

The combine "overlord" is part of the true combine, an advisor, all the striders and gunships and stuff are the races that the combine have conquered and modified.

Welcome! Excellent first post - while you're a rookie on the forum here, I don't think you'll be derided as a "noob" with an attitude like that. Bonus points for at least trying the search first.
There's images here on the pages somewhere of it that was pulled out of the editor. It's like a giant maggot with robotic appendages. Most disgusting - in the video screen you only see the front end. Try here. If I can find one with an image, I'll post it.

Basically, this is a Combine Advisor. It's generally thought that the Combine overevolved, becoming too dependant on their technology and possible psionic powers (hey, who knows?) until their bodies were big sacks of sluggy shit. These are the true Combine, manipulating everything from their control rooms behind the scenes. This particular one is the Advisor to Breen - that is, his contact within the Combine empire. It gives him the orders, tells him what to do, etc etc.

Yes, its Combine Advisor (AKA Combine Overseer). Overlord isn't in game and he officialy doesn't exist, but some he could be leader of Combine...

He's unlikely the head of all the Combine, rather one of many.

Interesting fact - he's wearing a body stocking. Look at the model closely.

My theory:

Remember the "transportation" in the Citadel? Little train-like pods? Well, I think that's how that (and others, for all we know) fat bastard moves around in his world. Hence, in RtB it is said that Combine rely on technology too much.

SinginFish and all others, if you are interested in knowing more about the combine advisor, and the combine in whole, search Wikipedia Encyclopedia at www.wikipedia.org . A great word to search for is "Combine". I got to know about this yesterday in another thread. The information there is absolutely great!
