CS:S pings vs DM pings

Post your ping for each game

CS:S - 210 average, 180's on a good day

HL2:DM - 1020 after 5 minutes, goes above 1000 in every server, even if it starts at 600

I have 56k which is crap yes, but 1020 compared to 210? Something has to be screwed up. I havent been able to even shoot anyone because of the lag, if Im lucky I can look in a different direction before getting killed. Lets see if theres a trend with cs and hl2 pings
 
cs: s average of 20-40, DM...probs about the same, didnt really see, but in the 5mins i played it, i was top of leader board with 25kills an 8deaths, so obviously it was gd.

and if i were u, id invest in broadband mate, asap, i was playing CS with pings like that 3years ago
 
css ping usually 30 - 60 depends on server always steady
hl2dm usually 30 - 60 i have noticed some rough servers out there though, better servers will be about soon, but if u enjoy online gaming u would enjoy it even more with broadband!

i was amazed when i first got broadband and there was actually no lag i thought everyone was lagging a bit... but on broadband u get smooth gameplay 100 percent of the time thats gotta be worth it

your 56k probably has a transfer rate of 5 kb/s if your lucky :)
my 1 mb broadband transfers at 115 kb/s not boasting just showing u difference so itll take u 23 seconds to transfer what mine will in 1 second THATS WHY YOUR LAGGING hl2dm is pushing your connection too much u might be lucky and find a server close to u... but i think ull be lucky to get it working right on 56k css has less going on so less on stress on connection

try all the lowest ping servers with the least players in...4 players max for 56k im sure

GET BROADBAND and spend more time gaming and less time ping checking :)
 
Counter-Strike: Source Average Ping: 300-1000
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch Average Ping: 150-700

I have Comcast (Broadband connection).

Somebody help me. ;(
 
I think HL2DM lags because there are few dedicated servers up yet, the same happened with CSS Beta.
 
I take back what I said earlier. Lag is zero problem if you're on a good server. :thumbs: The only lag is about a 1 ms delay.

I was watching my bro play, no problems whatsoever... it was also insanely funny.
 
css 30 - 35 dm 50 -70 but with dm i have much more lag than css it is just not running that smooth i think it is still to havy for servers we did have pb to while running it on our server.

same here m8...on CS-S I get around 150-200 with 56k. Its very playable and smooth. No worries here.

BUT..on HL2DM I get around 700-1000 with 56k. Not smooth or playable. Hopefully this is just due to a lack of dedicated servers for the HL2DM.

Otherwise..if we wanna play HL2DM we may have to stretch our wallets to getting broadband.

Anyone that says that you cant play CS-S with 56k modem is lying. Only if you have crap system and 56k will it not be playable.

I'm on 64k dialup.I hope they kinda decrease the physics,so that it would be a bit more playable. :dozey:
 
you 56kers should play on custom maps with little to no props maybe, theres just way too much information thrown around for you guys will all the physics i think.

runs fine for me on good servers, on bad ones its laggy as crap though. (obviously)
 
nope. the physics is why it's worth playing the first place. You should just get broadband or look for 4-player servers with low pings...You will NOT take away my toilet kills!
 
i get pings around 80 in both cs:s and hl2mp .. css plays fine, hl2 is hardly playable .. with a good ping. i've got no idea why, and i'm not the only one.

I will NOT take your toilet kills away :laugh: .I think they should just limit the number of gravity guns on the map or limit the number physical objects. They should add in the gauss gun , tune the shotgun damage a bit more up, add the tripmines and maybe make the magnum a little weaker. Then it wouldn't be all so physics oriented and there would be more gunfights than these server straining "gravity gun tug of wars".IMHO :p
