Doom movie petition

http://www.dmop.co.nr/

It is too bring back all references to hell, demons and hell (or 1 of it's moons) It will have marines instead of S.W.A.T and thier will be no virus that mutates people. It will be hell.

You should care unless you want a resident evil clone for a movie with the 'Doom' title slapped on it with smiley, happy faces everywhere.

:)DOOM:)
My name is Alice, I remember everything

well if u think about it the Reason nobody likes us German is becuz
of Mr. Spielberg
yeah we Geramans alway wanted to create an uber Army of Demons...

Kristafon, calm down. I don't want to get the can of silly string and distracting, shining things out again to calm you down

if they dont bring back the Hell demons, and Marines and futuristic nature of Doom 3, they should just scrap the entire project. What makes it worse is ID are actually just letting them do this. If they do go through with this, they need a title change. Cause it will not be considered "Doom" if Doom elements are not even in this movie. Might as well call it "Resident Evil 3: Cause We Stupid insignificant morons who can't make a movie"

Its a shame that it will just be Resident Evil : Mars edition. I couldn't care less about Doom being based around hell breaking loose, and I'm Christian. I can see how some people would get their backs up, but really its just dumb...after all it would be about a marine fighting against and beating hell. Wheres the problem in that? :O

^^ Ditto

If they put all that stuff back in there, I might be able to convince my parents to let me see it!
Not that there is a snowflake's chance in Hell that would happen, but oh well. :(

I suppose the shame is just to waste the opportunity to do a good adaptation. If they do absolutely anything novel with the franchise it may be interesting, but from what we know so far I doubt it.
As for the petition, thats about as helpful as yelling at the developers from your open window.

The DOOM movie could have ended up like a Starship Troopers clone, where marines head to another planet to duke it out with monsters. And I didn't mind Starship Troopers that much.

It still seems fishy that they would remove all references to hell when you license a DOOM movie. Are they trying to go for a PG rating? Even if it was aliens I would have found it more interesting than "a virus mutates the staff, and now we need to fly hundreds of thousands of km to kill them." Believe me, it WILL be a crew of people taking a spaceship to this base, because it won't be anyone inside when this virus goes off. Logically one would need to wear a protective suit to not be affected by this virus, but they won't allow that either, since it's the ROCK as the lead (and his mug needs to be in plain view, otherwise what's the point on getting him to play the hero.

Enough rambling by me, I'll close with what I said in the last thread; I am very disappointed:

So does this mean that all the cool enemies are being cut? Like the Arch Vile, Cacodemon, Baron of Hell, Mancubus, etc.?
'Cause isn't that the main payoff to doing a DOOM movie? Seeing all the cool monsters on the big screen, and then getting vaporised in a gory (old-school) DOOM fashion?
What's the use is making a horror-style adaptation when you begin removing all the things that made the source material scary and interesting?

It's like Jurassic Park with only the T-Rex (no other dinosaurs), and instead of being on an island like it's supposed to, it's in a city - wait that has been done; and it's one of the lowest points of the JP franchise. :P

Is there a petition against a Doom 3 movie? I'd sign that one.

signed the petition because hollywood's being retarded again, god i hate hollywood, i wish they'd stop f*cking up perfectly good ideas, and having the movie go into first-preson, WTF!? i mean, really, ok, so like no other movies have done it, doesn;t mean its a good idea

Well I know the lighting department for this movie has it real easy.

"...Mag-Lite.....check!"

Yeah! Totally don't ruin the immensely deep and complicated plot of the Doom series! Seriously, what are they thinking?

I have an idea, how about they scrap the project and make an original movie, instead of one based on a game without a plot. Certain games have the right to turn into movies. Most do not.

hmmm... just found this on IGN.com, worth a read, it's from the screenwriter, trying to cover his ass, but he seems pretty legit

"Refreshingly honest and candid, Callaham admits that the Doom movie cannot live up to the expectations of its fans; so instead of trying, the film will simply try to create a Doom-like experience at the movies. He urges fans to have faith in the filmmaking process."
At least he knows the movie's gonna suck and not be as good as the game, but he still gets paid

i signed it, in respect for 1 the granddaddys of FPS..... Damn Hollywood.......
