At the beginning of the ep2 trailer, there is a bridge, then a big blue shockwave races past, somehow causing the bridge to collapse. What is that? And how does alyx end up under there?

yeh, the super portal is whats left above the old citadel, and the portal storms are just smaller portals spawning due to this huge one.

Could the explosion be the opening of the super portal or the closing of it? And if so wouldn't the combine liek fall to their deaths from a height like that? NVM they have ships.

But what would be their means of transportation besides carriers, because we haven't seen a combine vehicle capable of transporting a vast amount of troops...

Super Portal you say? Tell me of this...

Citadel was destroyed in order to send the transmission and to create a super portal; impractical but with a teleport blackout on the Citadel's end it was the only way to re-establish contact with the far-side, and create a gateway for reinforcements. Basically resides over the ruins of City 17 looking completely badass.

It's probably fair to say that toward the end of EP2 it'll go into another phase and we'll see a load of off-world forces come tearing through. I think that's pretty much given, really, if you consider Valve's record with this kind of thing. Show it to the player, keep within the players view for the most part and build it up until the very end, eventually delivering the visual payoff or whatever you call it.

Something which i just thought of, asus, could the rocket possibly be sent through the portal to destroy one of the major combine outlets or something? Or could it close it? Or in the trailers when Kleiner yelps could the timer possibly have started? So many possibilities...

Maybe the the rocket they are making is suppose to do the same thing as the rocket in HL1.

Wait until you see it in game. Theres a few glimpses in some footage where it swirls like hell. I think its super enough
