episode 1 and half life source look up/down problem

It just seems natural to me to use the mouse & keyboard, makes me feel more 'in' the game, since I feel almost like i'm holding the weapon in-game via the mouse. Really you're kind of ruining it for yourself.

what is natural to one is unnatural to another. a man can no more breath water than a fish can breath air. air is natural to man and unnatural to the fish and water is natural to a fish and unnatural to a man. that's why he implodes when he gets too deep. the air in is body makes it unable to go into deep water without an external shell where as the fish has oil in it's body so the pressure doesn't effect it. however a fish cannot survive out of the lakes or oceans without an external tank. get my point. i've already stated several times in this thread and as i said before i'm tired of it. my mouse doesn't have alot of room on my desk between my tower and my moniter so moving it around so much is a problem, i can't move either componant so it just feels like i'm more in the game with my trusty keyboard.

don't get me wrong, i have alot of games that need the mouse but don't require constant movement and i can use the keyboard for those games but i don't, because it just feels natural to use the mouse. different gamers play games different ways. i'm sure theres some others on this board that use the keyboard mainly too.

i don't want to make enemies here nor do i wish to piss anyone off, especially mc bane, so for the sake of everyone and my internet connection, can we please drop this, the problems fixed and you all helped me, now please stop going on about how i play the greatest game series in the universe. please.

No, but you're not a fish. You're a man born in the world of fish. You're not supposed to be breathing water, air is much easier to do. But have it your way, though I assure you that not using the mouse for FPS' is something you will regret.

i have beaten many games with JUST the keyboard. the original half life games are among thoses i've beaten

i've noticed it's an entirly different game when the computer see's you. more things happen. i'm gonna try the half life 1 series like this for the first time ever

i still use it for stealth levels when alarms are a factor.

I don't think you quite understand. We're quite aware that you think it's "natural" or that you believe it's "easier". But we know it's not! You've even told us this yourself by having to cheat. As I said before, I thought the cursor keys were easier with the same kind of opinion about wasd as you have for your mouse. But I tried them, and it worked. I've not regretted it since. It's far easier.

Just use your damn mouse!

hi guyz, i got a proplem - im finding it hard to pick stuff up with my feet. you see, i walk around on my handz - i just prefer doing it that way ok? dont give me crap about doing it rong or tell me that im not designed to work that way. i just find it easier, ok - even though im here to complan about how hard it iz. anyway, anyone got any ideas on how i could make it easier on myself? im a genius too by the way, smatest in my family.

Yo, gmottl, I've been playing around with this thing and the mouse sensitivity actually does not seem to impact these controls... It turns just as fast at 20 sensitivity as it does on 1... Anyways, I'm not sure if this is something that can be changed or not, maybe there's some variable responsible for the turning speed. I think it would be a good idea to ask someone at valve about this, I bet the entire reason they've put this thing in is due to consoles or something, so there might be some way to make it turn slower. At it's current turning rate, it's very hard to aim accurately. Let me know if you know anything about how to fix this, I'll try to look into it.

EDIT:
I think these modify the speed with which your view changes

cl_yawspeed - default set at 210 (horizontal)

cl_pitchspeed - default set at 225 (vertical)
