The moment I was dreading came in Deus Ex. There was one file that wouldn't install from the CD, a music file. I knew the game would crash when that file was to be played so I came up with a cunning plan! I would get the name of the file and extract a HL2 music file, rename it and pass it off as the Deus Ex one. This proved to be entirly uncesisary. I was reinstalling it, waiting for the inevitable error, it never came! It installed perfectly w00t!

good thinking....... nice way to trick the installer....

He didn't trick it.

Okay...

I admit it....

I've never played deux ex...

Should I?

Answer is yes. You're a conspiracy theorist, you'd love it. :p

God Yes!

Edit: Off to see if the good news is true

deus ex rocks - i'd love to see it in pretty graphics, something that won't happen :(

I've had this since release but all my previous comp's were too crap to run it well so after all these years i think i might give it a go

hahaha...of course. there's enough conspiracy theoreys in that game to make your head spin.

Uh... looks like you've triggered a piece of dialogue or soundfile that has looped a billion times or something.

I think.

its a memory error - deus ex is notorious for them
usually i'd be able to play an hour or 2 before a crash like that

Well, I get one in the same spot every time.

I STRONGLY recommend Deus Ex.The game has infinite replay value.Deus ex 2...not so much, though I did get it on release so my computer was to crappy for it at the time, maybe ill start playing it again. But from what I played,I got really bored really quick. What really aggrivated me was how I shot a man without a helmet 5 times in the head before he would die :(

it's a shortened version of this:

"Deus ex machina"

"god from the machine"

and it doesnt mean what you think it means:

"It originated with Greek and Roman theater, when a mechane would lower actors playing a god or gods on stage to resolve a hopeless situation. Thus, "god comes from the machine".

but

"In modern terms the Deus ex machina has also come to describe a person or thing that suddenly arrives and solves a seemingly insoluble difficulty."

wiki ftw

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_ex_machina

Yes, I've explained it many times before. Unfortunately, I spelled Machina wrong when I first came here. Ugh.

But, in some other forms of entertainment, Deus Ex Machina has taken a literal stand. The Matrix Rev. for instance where we see the "God from the Machine."

Even the Deus Ex games, the main character can make choices that would turn him into a "God" involving technology.

Plus, it was originally a very lazy narrative device. HEY THAR HERO I AM A GOD LET ME HELP YOU. That's what most games do. In Deus Ex the player is free to choose their own path!

lol, Hong Kong military took over your PC.

Deus Ex is one of my favourite games ever, I love the conspiracy theory story and everything.

ya but the matrix developed it's own philosophy that seems to work on the premise that if you wear leather clothing somehow you'll be able to do really fancy moves

I guess the most appropriate explanation for Deus Ex in the game is:

"In modern terms the Deus ex machina has also come to describe a person or thing that suddenly arrives and solves a seemingly insoluble difficulty."

you, the player, are that person

There was also a game called deus ex machina for the zx-81 (early eighties, 1k ram). The soundtrack came from a separate audio tape(which you had to synchronise with the game yourself) and featured the voice of Ian Dury.

Yes, Solaris should play Deus Ex, he would come back much the wiser for it (can only be a good thing).
