FAST-FOOD giant Subway has launched a probe after a customer was sold a sandwich with a six-inch knife inside.
Felicity Spillett bought the snack, similar to the one pictured here, from the firm's Gosport branch at 7pm on Friday.
But as she went to bite into it, she says she saw the handle of a knife sticking out from one end.
Miss Spillett, of Avery Lane, Gosport said: 'I opened up the sandwich and pulled out a knife.
'I could not believe it and I was not very happy at all.
'It wasn't safe and it was not funny.'
And Miss Spillett was furious with the reaction of staff when she took the knife back.
She says no manager was available to speak to her and staff took the knife back and offered her a free cookie and drink.
Branch manager Jasvir Thindsaid she was not on duty on Friday night.
And she said she had not been informed by her staff that the incident had taken place.
But she promised to get to the bottom of it, adding: 'Clearly this is not good enough.'
A statement by Subway's public relations company, McKenna Townsend, said: 'The Subway chain takes food safety and customer complaints extremely seriously and is investigating the alleged incident in the Gosport store.'
