All the screens I've seen of Aftermath are with Alyx! I know that people said that Alyx wasn't in the game enough for people to care for her but this is going too far! I don't want to babysit my ex-colleges daughter throughout the game. (Note: I meant that metarforicaly)

I've never been a good speller. In Primary School I'd just about pass all my spelling tests and so the teacher sent to the remeedial teahcer (who is my current principal's wife). I got everthing (and I mean everthing) right. Sorry for the above spelling mistakes.

She knows the quickest routes out of the town, so having her as our guide makes sense.

She also has to lead us to the spot where she hid Kleiner.

Since time is of the essence, it makes more sense to work as a team than every man for himself.

In fact I imagine him already leading the effort the moment the Citadel started exploding. Once an escape plan is in place, then I'm sure Gordon will assist Barney in the evacuations. As for DOG...it might actually be pulling a King Kong, scaling the Citadel wall in search of its master.

its safe to say u are definitely in the minority when saying that seeing as most people hate Mossman and her role in Half Life2

Her mind may be a good contribution but who would you rather have beside you in a firefight? Some annoying little brat or an experianced fighter beside you?

She may be smart but Barney doesn't constantly smile at Gordan in a creepy way or fiddle with his hair when Gordan is around. BlackMesaDude was right. Not meaning to be rude or anything. Hmmm, though you were right about Barney needing to help with the evacuation. Some things to consider.

But why do so many people hate the women in this game??? It seems like every week there's a thread about wanting Alyx dead. Mossman's not faring too well either. I don't get it.

You know, I always interpreted Mossman as having a change of heart rather than having always been plotting to betray Breen....like for a while, she really believed in Breen's 'future of humanity' but changed her mind right at the end.

Anyway. There is not a character in HL2 who is not completely brilliant and the only one I wouldn't want to spend more time with is the G-man. Unless I had my shotgun.

Half-Life 2 is one of the few shooters that I've played where the women are treated as characters and not eye candy.

But there's people like Takashi who think there are sexual innuendos in the game (which there isn't); people like Spike who think that Alyx gets in the way all the time (which is silly because the longest time she's with you is in Entaglement); and there's people like BlackMesaDude who want her dead so that Barney will get to spend more time with Gordon. For a sidekick Alyx spends very little time with Gordon.

Valve have even acknowlaged that too little time was spent with Alyx in Half-Life 2, and now that there are talks that they'll change that, many are up in arms over it. I cannot understand how the complainers don't want Alyx as a sidekick, yet they wouldn't mind Grigory, Barney, or even DOG tagging along for the whole game. That sounds a little unfair.

hmm...i did not have a problem with Alyx nor Mossman being a part of the HL series
infact it was a refreshing change from what we normally see of female roles in games, particularly fps games.

mostly the hate toward Mossman is for the role she plays than anything else.
as for Alyx...well Lawyer pretty much nicely covered why either shes hated...or well.. u get the idea

Glad to see that you think so. Alyx turned out better than we could have hoped for. A competent female character who's brave and adventurous, yet still very feminine.

There was this creepy glitch in the game,well, something on my computer screwed up and somehow there were two Alyxs, the normal one and the one who kept stepping back everytime I came near her, the second one had this eerie smile and even in the light there were like two glowing points in her eyes. It was just weird..

Apparently many of the enemies are getting an AI upgrade for aftermath, so it'd be extremely cool to see alyx commanding her own squad or something.
In any case, having her constantly follow means that allied AI would need to be smarter by default, which is certainly a good thing.

Mossman's always said that she's better than Gordon. Perhaps she'll try and prove herself in combat too.

I would hope that the AI is getting upgraded. I thought it was fine in Half-Life 2, but so many people are complaining that the game is too easy because of the AI settings.
