Got a newb question.. dealing with the Smod in HL2

OK, I've downloaded and put the Smod in the SourceMods folder in steam. I open up steam and its there, but its labeled a Third Party mod. I load it up, and try to use the exec files the mod came with and the weapons but it doesnt work. How do i get the mod to be fully functional?

reinstall it, it messes up alot. second install and it worked fo' me

ok, now the mod works just fine. but i cant get the kick to work... i try binding it in the options menu, using the 'k' key for it, but it says
'couldn't exec userconfig.cfg'. what does that mean and how do i get the kick working?

Try assigning the key for kick by going through the keyboard options. I saw it and assigned it to mouse5 and it worked fine. Mouse buttons or any keyboard buttons would work i'm sure.
