Half Life: Source Vs Half Life

I can now choose to buy either half life source or the original half life on steam, but i can't decide, i could get the original game and be able to get all the cool mods, or i could get the source version, with, umm......i don't know, better graphics, but i need YOUR help, to give me your opinion, and the pros and cons to both the versions, thx in advance!

HL:Source isn't even a full conversion, just nicer water, physics not very much else.

Original Half-Life, and I don't mean as in Steam Half-Life or any crap like that, I mean WON Half-Life, the 1.1.1.0 version.

Blue shift is worth it if you buy it cheap.
It's the best-made of the three games. Just shorter and without much new stuff.

Hey, BS was good, other then being incredibly short, I had a blast playing it (just like I did on HL1 and OpFor).

I suggest the WON version, like said before. 1.0.0.0 version ftw!

Of course, you'll have to go to an actual store like Walmart or something to pick it up. It might just be easier to by the original version via steam, then.

What I'm getting at is don't get HL:Source

I think HL:S also gets you HLDM:S when it's released in April. But I still agree with your choice of Vanilla HL.

Though Kupo, your right as long as they don't buy the $10 version of HL. Since EA took over publishing they are now shipping $10 versions of HL that just come with a jewel case(no box), and that cd key will ONLY get you HL. No Cs, DoD, Of, Ricochet, TFC, Blue Shift or any mod\game that valve supports.

I got half life 2 game of the yeat and that incuded half life source. It was cool.
But not very differant then original.

I can only go by what others have said and a few reviews for HL: S and that is that it sucks apparently, so in my personal opinion i'd have to say get the original.

Get the original, because if you REALLY want good graphics in Half Life wait for Black Mesa: Source to come out(not that I would reccomend it to someone who hasn't played the original first.), if you have Half Life 2 that is.

Just don't buy Half Life: Source, I did and I was disappointed. The second I started I saw that Barney had hardly changed and I was like "What the Hell?". Basicly the gist of HL:Source is that they add more realistic lighting, different source format, they cleaned up the ragdolls and some of the textures(test chamber). and of course they added some Source water(which I find looks odd next to the Half Life textures). And they added some new sound effects.

Of course, the original has all of those glitches that are so easy to exploit.
