Halflife 2 Expansion wish-list

I'm happy to know that there will be an expansion/sequal to Halflife.

Here's what I'm hoping to see in the game:

- Oil Drill in the scenery, maybe a crashed plane, or wind turbines
- Cable Car transporting you to a mountain (snow level)
- Hangglider (hmm maybe)
- Jetpack (!) - with fuel upgrades scattered around the level - underground cave system to explore
- SnowSki vehicle
- Ability to Ski (down the mountain, hmm maybe)
- Xen levels - mantra's, healing pools, glowing plants
- Those small lifeforms you can hold that will attack enemies and yourself (halflife 1)
- Elevator platforms (with fences on the sides)
- Zeppelin (enemy) floating in the sky, with big tv sceen
- Cockroaches you can squish (halflife 1) - green blood (that was fun, and a nice touch)
- Radiation areas (radioactive rocks that will cause a big explosion when two rocks make contact)
- Some sort of gigantic floating robot, hunting you down (when you are running through maze-like corridors without a ceiling - only certain spaces you can take cover), with a red laser tracker (with the 'ooo' 'aaa' sound fx taken from Prodigy's song 'Poison')
- Those creatures that spit on you (halflife 1)
- Ability to paint graffiti (DM)
- Light beacon pistol (enemy) > sky - pointing out the direction you and your comrades should be heading
- Return to Black Mesa
- Mined areas/barb wire (halflife 1)
- Creatures that live under the sand, that move towards you at high velocity (tremors)
- RPG secondary fire, laser lock on/off (halflife 1)
- Camera's mounted in corridors (corner ceilings), panning left/right, that will trigger an alarm when you are spotted
- Controllable camera's (from certain rooms - spy on enemies)
- More game characters
- Electronic 'Whistles' (!) to control Alex' Robot Pet Dog - Attack mode, Retreat (follow) mode
- Teleportation (halflife 1)

Suggestions are welcome.

1. That would be sweet, I never thought of that, it would be sweet to return to it all destroyed and stuff in source.. who knows what would be there..

Antlions jump at you. I mean creatures that move towards you underground, causing the ground to shift.

i'd want maybe more complex squad controls, maybe not.
i agree bullsquids should be back in it
and to play in the days preceeding the 7 hours war, as well as the 7 hours war itself
 
Yes, i also want to see the 7 hour war, it wiil be awesome. Also want the hydra backand the cremator
 
I want to see how Alyx got the cremator head, like maybe she fought one and brought it back to remember the glorious thing shes jus done.
 
Well since its msot likley before Half life 2, and your playing as Alyx i am assuming a few things..

Are you sure it takes place before halflife 2?
Kind of disappointing if it is.

Maybe there will be a version where you can play Alex (before HL2), and an official Halflife 3 later on?

Shepard would be cool, but wait my childern, wait for Valve to release a "Alyx" Expansion but it's really HL2: OP4.

All of those items are not valve-hl-plot related, they were invented by gearbox (who did op4 and blueshift) and aren't part of HL's main plotline.

Eli did say however, that BM wasn't much more than a crater, but I'd love to go back there, and see it rotting and decrepit

And what about Barney (Blue Shift expans.) in HL2?

Assassins. In huge warehouses with fat boxes to run around.

Very, its an EXPANSION. :)

Half life 3 will be afterword.

I think the guys at valve had the same idea, but didn't want it too cliche. Eventually the tentacle was born.



However I would really like to see the 7 hour war. Think about it, calling in airstrike after airstrike to soften the combines might in a well known city, sought of like the 'broken arrow' call in 'We were soldiers'.
 
The Hydra. At the very least it would stop the threads asking where the damned thing is appearing every 5 minutes, but the Hydra was the one thing I saw in those original HL2 videos that I genuinely missed when I got to the end of HL2.
Gearbox's NPC inventions, particuarly characters in Blue Shift and Decay, probably as a second science team.
Kittens because they're lovely.
Snarks because they're lovely in a totally different way.
 
I think it would be cool if they had a space scene.. somewhere in the expansion or maybe HL3.. Alyx piloting some kind of ship around in an open 3d area... it would be cool.. They could definately do it with the Source engine.. Maybe like some cool battle in space (similar to Xwing, Freelancer, or any space battle game), and then she infiltrates some mothership or other planets base and it goes back to 1st person on foot.. I don't know.. It would be cool to have some other kind of battle or game in there to break up the non stop monotony of finding the linear ground route.. I'd just like to see some far out uses of Source since I think they've barely stratched the surface.. Maybe the same thing could be done underwater with some kind of submarine.. some kind of cool environment other than being on the ground, and the ability to have true freedom of direction.

Also I'd like some more light shed on the whole plot of HL2. I mean a lot of stuff you'd never know unless you read Raising the Bar or checked out this website.. SO many people probably play HL2 and by the end of it, they know it was a fun game but really have no clue what just happened.. or how it happened to Earth. I know when I was running around the coast or flying through the water board, I didn't automatically know that the Combine have been draining the Earths ocean.. and a lot of people probably have no clue to the real plot. It would be cool to go to the air processing plant, or some kind of plant where you clearly see water being sucked up OUT of the ocean.. They definately need to put the cremators in.. That's gonna be off the hook.. hopefully someone comes out with a mod that puts the cremators into HL2 as well.. I would have loved to have seen those guys... I'm sure they've been saved for the expansion.

Now if they prooved that my theory was correct that would be just as bad.
 
I think it would be cool to have a Gojira(Godzilla)-esque battle in a huge destroyed city before City 17 where you run and gun the damn thing!
 
Decay characters (Green, Cross, Keller,Rosenberg) is not property of Gearbox but Valve. I want theese characters in expansions or HL3.

Gearbox developed the PS2 version of Half-Life. I personally believe that any expansion inventions default to Valve's ownership though...
 
More evidence of Biozeminades would also be good.

Still, I'd like to see more evidence of the Combine way of life, away from the actual war effort they put into. What do giant sock-wearing slug creatures do in their free time when they're not flipping out and invading worlds?

More Gregori, more Barney, more Kleiner, a big bad ass souce garg and a tentacle, lots of walking (read running) around in city 17 and more background info on how the characters got to be there.
 
A combine-sniper rifle, I was pissed when it didn't fall out of the window the first time I killed a sniper. More driving/boating sequences just cause I love em' :imu: But by far the most important thing as always with HL is learning more of the plot, thats why I fear if the expansion takes place during the week gordan is away we just won't learn a whole lot, though I'm sure Vavle is working on some juicy stuff (plotwise)

Exactly the same happened in the original Half-Life, so it suprised me less.
 
I would love to have:

-Access to the sniper rifle, but only if they keep the awesome beam sight.
-At least one gonarch and/or one garg.
-Race-X. I know it's not gonna happen, but a man can dream, can't he? :P
-Vortigaunts fighting!
-A more in-depth view of how the CPs and overwatch operate.
-Free candy!

So many things done right in Halflife and Halflife 2. This game has by far the best engine, and the best concept and game elements for first person shooters, the best game experience to have. The attention to detail is amazing.

The only thing that todays game lack is proper use of 'portal technology', which opens up the ability to create theoretically infinite and seamless levels, by rending prefabbed sections of levels, and prefabbed corridors, indoor levels.

I'm curious how this game will run on next generation Xbox and PS3, and ofcourse next gen 3D cards for PC. The emphasis could be put on rendering large levels (and maybe some more objects in the scenery), since the detail in geometry and game characters is pretty much OK.
 
More programs in SDK, including a simple to use texture importer/creator, a model importer/texturer/basic animation and a program to write and compile code.
 
Lets be honest. We are going to play as Alyx.
We are not going to play during the 7-hour war as Alyx was probably around 10 at the time.
It would be like when Abe Simpson says he was in world war 1
"I drew a pritty picture"
"Now Sergent Simpson, time for your nap, your no good to us cranky"
 
And the 7-Hour war would be kinda dull. The Combine owned us Humans in a record timeframe - our weapons did little or nothing against their heavies. An expansion pack in which, no matter how hard you fight, the enemy still win, would probably not go down very well.

An entire game of fighting synth after synth, yeah right!
