Help me with crosshairs

Trying to edit the standard crosshair into something a little bit less obtrusive. I managed to edit halflife2.ttf successfully with a font editor, but unfortunately, I can't get rid of the brackets on the side of the crosshair, nor can I change the colors.

You might have to wait for the full sdk on that one. I'm not sure if there's a way yet to directly edit the resources.

my crosshair is the letter "Q" - whats up with that? and instead of the "HALF-LIFE 2" logo being on any menu screens, it shows up as HALF-LIFE' in ariel font with a single quotation mark instead of the "2" - has this happened to anyone? both these errors occur with my store bought copy and also the warez version that i borrowed from a friend...
